After communicating on the Shout Box, it was suggested to me that the challenge as per the above subject, it may make a good topic.

Here is the problem:
I want to do a mix of a few songs, which two of them are from the Status Quo. "Rocking All Over The World" going to "The Wonderer"

I do have the Everything PAK and want to use RT for this mix.

Things go well, until the change of the feel, from Even to Swing style.

I can't seem to find the same instruments as played in the EV style for this new part.

How would you go around this problem?

Cheers

I have not had this problem exactly, but I can appreciate it could be an issue. With Real Tracks we know we have to switch to differenct ones for a SW feel versus a EV feel (well at least in theory). But we don't want a different band to step in. Or a different drum kit. Or different guitar sounding FX.

I will add I have mixed EV and Swing players (bass swinging with lead instrument EV) in the past and it was not necessarily good.

So seems we have to carefully chose at minimum the same RT players. That should be doable. But beyond that, what best to do?

I hope I am understanding this correctly. Can you add the SW style instruments and then before you rebuild, freeze the EV style you wish to keep?
I think I accomplished a similar problem yesterday when I created a new song by copying a rubato EV 32 bars into a second swing file, but freezing the swing file before pasting. Then going to the "Edit Settings.." and muting and un-muting the various instruments.

This might be where you need to try the "prototype" button in the style picker. Once you have found a style that you like, click the prototype button to eliminate the styles that do NOT match with your prototype style.

It is a great way to find more then one style for a song.

You may need to do this for both the EV and SW variations. Maybe it will list both SW and EV after a single prototype selection? I've never tried it for both types.

The issue biab-user maybe experiencing is not all RealTracks have even / swing instrumentation compliments.

For example, all five accordion RealTracks are played with an even feel.

It may help to know what styles are selected.

Actually, when you study the catalog:
http://www.pgmusic.com/realtracks.all.php?os=win

You find very few examples of this EV/SW pairing.

Here is one example:

But more often a large disconnect in tempo or just no match. I am afraid this is just a consequence of the "library" of available recordings.

I can't say weather or not more attention should have been placed on this in the design - don't know how needed this is. As I said previously, this has not really been a problem for me in the past since I don't tend to mix. However, when I did try to mix SW and EV, it was not so good. Maybe this was why...

It greatly depends on what you mix.

There are some that mix fine and others create a hacking amateur band, the latter especially if you mix sw and ev rhythm instruments.

If you have an ev feel band and a sw soloist, or vice versa, that might create some adorable tension and sound better than expected.
