Just a shot in the dark but I was wondering if anyone has Creative Audigy 4 Pro and more importantly the original application CDs
I have updated the drivers and now my applications (surround mixer creative recorder and such) are trashed! I have every single piece of software apps and drivers from EVERYTHING I ever bought..... Except..... Yup you got it!
There is a ghost or something that MUST have moved it. I've had the place apart. quite literally. Creative have been about as helpful as a chocolate teapot! Best they came up with was a number unobtainable from UK.
Bottom line is,without a full reinstall I'm up the Swanee! (System restore won't do it)
If some kind soul has such mentioned CDs that they would be prepared to copy for me (I dont think this will constitute copyright infringement) I would be eternally grateful and naturally pay any costs incurred.

Maybe you can try to find a torrent download for it. If it is legal, I can't judge that, but well it would be the same as getting a copy from anybody...

Dave, I just searched for audigy 4 pro driver. If click the red search-text on the left, it will take you to the results that I got in Google. There seems to be a few drivers available. There's even some ISO files, If you are not familiar with ISO files, these are copies of CD files: download them and simply burn them to disk and you will have a CD install. A word of advice, a couple of the links that I visited, offered "free scans" of the computer. My experience is that it's best to AVOID THESE LINKS LIKE A PLAGUE!!!!! Hope this helps or, at the least, gives you some ideas, Noel

If you are using XP, you may be able to rollback to the older driver from the Device Manager.
Another method is System Restore, rollback the entire system to the nearest date before you installed the new drivers.

Would Creative not even offer to sell the disk to you? They used to do that for about $10 USD.

Thanks for your suggestions guys, Checked the link Noel but I really need the whole installation as I want to do a clean install, but thanks. Mac, I can roll back the driver and System restore but oddly the problem persists (My puter's haunted!) Ryszard, I still haven't been able to contact creative from UK with the numbers I have to ask them to sell me a replacement..... Haven't given up on that one yet.

Then try Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs and search for Windows Update by date, Remove the most recent, reboot and check. You may have to use the dropdown to show all System Files first.

I can't tell you *which* update is the one that stopped the soundcard, but since you mentioned that it happened immediately after the forced microsoft update, that would seem to be likely.
This is reversible anyway. So try it.

I think I may have mis informed you Mac, it was after updating the Audugy driver, not windows...... That's why I was somewhat confused at your suggestion to remove Windows update.
Creative have now given me another Telephone number for Creative Ireland, so I'll try to beg them for a CD tomorrow.
