I've just started using BIAB/Real Band. I've made a number of backing tracks, burned them to CD, and use them through a CD player connected to my PA, with good results.
The CD burner(microsoft) on my computer (vista)is not optimum. Here is what I need:
1. Good normalization of songs burned. There is a little too much volume variation from song to song.
2. Ability to put in an extended space between songs, =/- 10 seconds, so I don't have to be too quick on the pause button.
Any recommendations for freeware or software for purchase?

What you need is the burning software, not the actual burner.
Nero Software offers these functions in an easy to use interface, and I'm sure others do too
Most current burning software packages will allow these basic features
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome
Make your sound your own!

He fiddled while Rome burned, too...
But Nero is some darn good CD burnin' software.

While I'm (maybe I should now say, was) a big Nero fan for many years, I was extremely unhappy when I upgraded (not free) to Nero 9. It took forever to load and in the process wrote about a hundred or more restore points in the O/S (each restore point uses disk space). Then, I found several features actually had less functionality than the previous version. So I uninstalled and went back to version 8 (on one computer) and version 7 (on another computer). If you read the forums, you'll find a lot of other people had similar problems. They may have fixed it by now, but I haven't had time to check. If you can find it, my recommendation would be to install version 8 or earlier.
I've been happy with both version 8 and version 7.

Hadn't thought of the inevitable upgrade and what it can do that hurts.
Just looked, I'm on ver. 6 point something of Nero.
You might be able to find older versions selling brand new at quite reduced prices, though, with a websearch. Could be a great deal.

Likewise my version is four years old and works perfectly. When I replace the drive/computer then I will upgrade.
