It is time to give in and spend some money. I was looking at Costco's ZT system. Does RB and BIAB work well with Windows Vista Home Premium (64-bit) ?It seems like alot of computer for $899.
Any comments or suggestions.
Here are some of the specs.
Intel® Core™ i7 Processor 920 (2.66GHz)
* 8MB Intel Smart Cache
* Intel X58 + ICH10R chipset
* 6GB DDR3 SDRAM triple channel memory (3 x 2GB)
Drives:
* 1TB (7,200RPM) SATA 3Gb/s hard drive
Brand new HP Pav laptop Core i5 2.67 gHz 6 gb ram 500gb 7200rpm hd

There have been problems reported about trying to install the included-with-BIAB VSC synthesizers on Vista 64 bit.
There are also various soundcard driver problems concerning V-64 at the present time. Depends on soundcard type and mfr, do your homework carefully on that front.

Costco was also offering the ZT with XP Pro as well. Toucher bought one recently.

I bought the ZT system from costco online. At the time they had a model with XP Pro, with the AMD 64 chip which can run 32 or 64. I am set up with the 32 bit XP Pro, and it works beautifully. 500 G hard drive and 500 external seagate free agent HD for backup. Mine was only about $800 which included a 22" LCD monitor, and the Costco Concierge service is pretty darn good for helping to set up any electronic items that you buy from Costco. In addition you get what I belive is double the mfgrs warranty from costco at no extra charge.
All in all not a bad deal. If you need 64 for other reasons, then I guess its a moot point.

I use Biab since the past century with several Windows OS's.
Should I make a "Windows OS with Biab" round-up:
1st place: Vista 64
2nd place: XP 32 and XP 64
3rd place: 98SE
so go for Vista 64!
The only thing your PC lacks is a second (and maybe a third?) hard-disk.
With 12 giga of RAM and 3 disks yours will be ra eally performing PC!

The best thing I ever did was when I acquired the below mentioned lappy that was broke was to install a new HD ,that's what was broke, and up to 2 gigs of RAM and dedicate this machine to music only. It was on the internet once to download all of the windows updates.
The other machine is dedicated to the internet & email. Has paid versions of Spyware Doctor, ThreatFire, Firewall+, Avast, Registry Mechanic , Avira Task Manager & FireFox 3.1.0.If anything even looks sideways at me somethings on it.

I'm having absolutely not issues whatsoever with Vista 64 with BIAB and RB...insofar as the OS is concerned.
I use a M-Audio 2496 with Vista 64 bit drivers, and it works perfectly. I am running a Phenom II processor, and my RB generate times are definitely faster than with XP 32.
I would enthusiastically recommend 64 bit, and that system, other than not having a second hard drive installed, would be perfect for BIAB or RB, or most any audio work.
You will, of course, need a better sound card, so make sure that you can upgrade to something better, i.e., make sure you have an open PCI or PCI-e slot for a comparable card.

--And if you go 64, make sure that any soundcard you select has drivers published for 64 (and lurk some forums to find out how well they perform -- or not) first.

Which is why I suggested the M-Audio 2496. It works well, has native 64 bit drivers, and we all know the quality of the sound.
