I run Win2k Pro. Should it not be possible to run both PT (10) and BIAB 2008.5 with the same Midi IN/OUT set of drivers without using Hubi's Loopback Device? Thanks in advance

I doubt it as BIAB can only recognize one MIDI port at a time.
And it "captures" the port.

I'm running XP, I've gone back and forth many times with both programs open without a glitch using MME. ASIO is different, one program at a time there but you still can use ASIO for PT and MME for Biab.

ASIO, MME, those are sound drivers.
Don't have anything much to do with the MIDI connects to ports.

There were a couple of options. One from a Russian company that gave on version away free, and a more powerful version for a fee which could send MIDI data over an ethernet (TCP/IP) so you could have networked PC's jammed.
I think is also an open source version.
But yes, I have used (many years ago - also on Win2K) BIAB simultaneously with another program (not PT) so you should be able to do it as long as your apps for some reason otherwise incompatible.
Finally, I have found a cool signature with sufficiently dry humor.

Hey Seamus - I actually used Hubi and ran both Biab and PT - with W95/8. A search came across a freebee called "Loopbe1" which is supposed to do the same thing (as I read it  ) in W2K+. I'll have to give it a shot. One would think it should be possible to use the same drivers, I'm using same XG motherboard on the same company's sound card (but later model) that I used back in 95-98 days with Hubi. Cheers

I run the most "Popular OS Downgrade in History" called "XP" And I run Sony's midi router, which also runs on win2k http://www.johnrofrano.com/tutorials/virtualmidirouter.htmIt gives me all I need and always seems to work. Sometimes I use midi-ox with it to split or merge, or ... http://www.midiox.com/I forgot why I don't use midi-yoke, I think it caused gigastudio to crash. I actually take the midi out of BAIB and run it through this midi router and into various samplers (Garritan, Gigastudio) and synths via VSTHost. It allows me to use several different programs at the sametime and switch things around. Works fine with real tracks. Hope this helps,
