I've been using BiaB for quite awhile now, and I've converted most of my live-performance stuff to RealTracks. However, there are some older tracks that I like the way they are, and in the spirit of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", I'd like to keep them as-is. However, on the gig the levels are all over the map, and particularly the older all-MIDI tracks seem to be at much lower levels than the newer RealTracks tunes. All night long I'm trying to ride the output of the laptop trying to find a balance, and sometimes people get blown through the back wall, and sometimes the track is almost inaudible.
Is there a way to level-out (normalize) the .*GU files? I found a thread about normalizing converted MP3 files, but this is about the .*GU files for live performance. Any suggestions?

Prefs -> Arrange
Take a look at the upper RH part of the Arrange window, "Normalize MIDI Velocities to.."
If you check that, then experiment with entering a number in the box below from about 70 all the way up to 127, you can invoke a kind of MIDI "compressor" globally that may do the trick for you.
Sometimes it is necessary to also visit the RealTracks and RealDrums Control panels and adjust the Volume setting for those also in order to dial things in, but start with that Normalize MIDI command, for it usually will make it work without resorting to changing the levels of your RealTracks up or down to match.
Normalize MIDI Velocities was actually created to solve the problem of some styles being softer than others when all we had were MIDI styles to work with, I started using it right away on my live gigs back then with good results. A setting of somewhere around 90 seemed best for my setup. Avoid overdoing the number, that can be as bad as overcompression of audio, bang-bang-bang.

Wow... I can already tell an enormous difference!! Thanks! You were "spot-on"...
Now, if I "Save With Patches and Harmony", does that save the change, or do I have to leave that setting turned on with any laptop I use?

That is a "global" setting that affects all songs. Don't need to Save with Patches etc. as that setting will not be reflected in the files, it is applied during playback globally.
So, yes, if you switch laptops, you should set that Normalize up on the next laptop to suit. Remember your number, it will likely work on the other ones about as well, although a slight bit of tweaking may be in order to compensate for output, PA system, etc.
