I just ran across a problem with tempo.
For certain reasons*) I need the rhythm track to be around 250 bpm. My audience perceives this as 125 bpm. Now I want the other instruments play at 125 bpm. Is there a way to do this within BIAB or RealBand?
(My workaround would be to create the rhythm track at 250. Rework the tune, mostly adjust the chord durations to take the same time at 125 bpm. Generate it with other (non-rhythm) instruments. Align those two tunes in a DAW like Reaper. And then go back and forth to fix what is not optimal.)
*) I can explain that in short with the perception of tempo of my listeners. If you need a more verbatim answer, please ask. I just wanted to keep this post not inflated.

The ability to generate Realdrums at double-time and half-time like Realtracks has been on the Wishlist a couple of times. Maybe you can add it again. The only way I can think of that might work to solve your problem is to set up a drum track at 250 bpm and save it as a Performance File. (A Performance File is simply an audio file that is associated with a track and plays back when the track plays. It's available via the right-click-on-a-track menu. As far as I'm aware, such a file is independent of BIAB's tempo - I could be wrong here, though.) When the drum Performance File is created, I'd then change BIAB to 125 bpm, halve the number of bars on the chord sheet and generate the instruments. In theory, the drums as a performance file should be playing at 250 bpm and the instruments should be playing at 125 bpm. For these to occur in the same tune, one would need to use F5 to have the drums playing the different section tempos. Once that's all set up, then the drums could be saved as a Performance File. Once that's done, BIAB can be set to 125 bpm and the F5 settings all removed. The instruments could then be generated. It's worth a try. Let us know how you go! Regards, Noel

Yes, I would try making an audio file of the drums using the same name as the BIAB song, so it plays back with the song.
BIAB 2026 Win Audiophile. Software: Fender Studio One 8, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6, Song Master Pro, Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Presonus Quantom HD8 & Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors.

I know, or think I know what you're wanting. I've run into a few times where I wanted to do that..... I didn't find any easy way to do that. I think I actually went to "plan-B" and a different route.
If I were to do it, yeah, I'd probably work with 2 different BB projects and a DAW to act as a gene splicer.
You can find my music at: www.herbhartley.comAdd nothing that adds nothing to the music. You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both. The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

The ability to generate Realdrums at double-time and half-time like Realtracks has been on the Wishlist a couple of times. Maybe you can add it again. Will do that, once I know how to put it in English words. The only way I can think of that might work to solve your problem is to set up a drum track at 250 bpm and save it as a Performance File. (A Performance File is simply an audio file that is associated with a track and plays back when the track plays. It's available via the right-click-on-a-track menu. As far as I'm aware, such a file is independent of BIAB's tempo - I could be wrong here, though.) When I change the tempo, performance files react accordingly. When the drum Performance File is created, I'd then change BIAB to 125 bpm, halve the number of bars on the chord sheet and generate the instruments.
In theory, the drums as a performance file should be playing at 250 bpm and the instruments should be playing at 125 bpm. BIAB is unaware of that theory. But still, I didn't know about the performance files. Thank you for that tip. What I did now as a first try: 1. Create the rhythm group performance files (bass, drums, guitar) 2. Halve the chord durations, that was very quick. Even the song form got adjusted with that one click. 3. Save the tune with a slightly different name. 4. Open it in RealBand 5. Import the performance files. 6. Adjust the starting point. Now in RealBand the count-in measures are reduced to one measure -- since these tracks are played twice as fast, compared to the rest of the instruments. 7. Next step: Create the rest of the needed instruments in either RealBand or BiaB I'll keep you informed when the next steps are done. Then I also will add the several files.

Thanks for the extra information about performance files. I haven't had a chance to test them yet. It will be interesting to see where you experimenting takes you.
All the best, Noel
