Hi,
I have a question on the order of installation.

I have already:
- backed up my working BIAB2015 directory (first copied all the files to a "bb_backup" dir, then zipped it all)
- bought the upgrade to BIAB2016 pluspak
- downloaded "everything" that the links gave me after purchase
- stored those install files (.exe) also on a separate disk for backup

and ... this means that I have:

One directory BIAB2016_downloads, containing the files:
2016_8pak.exe
2016_49pak.exe
bandinabox_realband_2016_pluspak.exe
realtrack228-323 and four more similar files

So - what to do next? They're exe-files so i understand I should just run them. But does the order matter?

To my exprierience, the order of installation doesn't matter.
I usualy install in the following order:
- Main Programm, bandinabox_realband_2016_pluspak.exe (in your case)
- additional pak's like *_8pak, *_49pak
- all realtracks

Somtimes I start another realtrak-exe even bevor the one running has finished and also sometimes parallel to different locations like installation localy on drive D: and parallel to an external drive.

No problems so far.

When installing parallel onto 2 different drives you must be Aware to type the corret drive-letter for every *.exe you start.

Regards
Thomas

This is how I did my upgrade in this order.

1. Install BIAB 2016 Upgrade bandinabox_realband_2016_pluspak
2. Install 8 Pack and 49 Pack
3. Install RealTracks 228 to 253. Really does not matter, but you can do them in numerical order.
4. Install Band-in-a-Box® 2016 Build 430 (Jan 04 2016)patch.
5. Install RealTracks Update (Dec 10 2015)patch.
6. Launch BIAB and do a Slow, Complete rebuild of the styles list. It might prompt you to do a fast rebuild first but do the Slow, Complete rebuild of the styles list afterwards to insure you see all your styles.

I do pretty much what jcland described.

It's good that you did a zip of the existing BIAB2015 folder. That way, if anything goes wrong with the installation you can get quickly back to square one to try again.

And of course, since you bought the plus pak, all those EXE's must installed on top of your existing BIAB2015 for it work properly. Before you start, make sure you know the folders of the original BIAB2015 installation (for example, C:\BB for the main BIAB folder, as well as for the RTs/RDs if you kept everything together). If you use RTs and RDs on a different drive, then make note of that location to tell the installer where to put the new stuff. Remember that for installation purposes, you need to specify the folder one level above the resulting RealTracks and Drums folder, but after you do the installation and specify where they are, you have to include the RealTracks and Drums folder names.

I don't do the standard installation, so for me, I have the following folder structure and this is where I point RealTracks/RealDrums to after doing the installation:

BIAB Folder - D:\Apps\PGMusic\BIAB
RealTracks folder - D:\AppsData\Sounds\PGMusic\RealSounds\RealTracks
RealDrums folder - D:\AppsData\Sounds\PGMusic\RealSounds\Drums
RealBand folder - D:\Apps\PGMusic\RealBand

But for installation purposes, I specify:
BIAB folder - D:\Apps\PGMusic\BIAB
RealDrums - D:\AppsData\Sounds\PGMusic\RealSounds
RealDrums - D:\AppsData\Sounds\PGMusic\RealSounds
RealBand folder - D:\Apps\PGMusic\RealBand

Hopefully that wasn't too much information.

Thx jcland!
I have done 1,2 and 3. The 4 patch is downloading...
But I can't see any more patches available (in the "Check for updates" window). Maybe this implies that I already got that update (as I ordered and downloaded by Christmas)?

It very well could be that you do indeed have the December 2015 RealTracks update.

However, I don't rely on the internal Check for Updates method since I and others have ran into problems having BIAB saying I needed this update when I know in fact that I had already updated all my patches.

I do it the old fashioned way by going straight to the PGMusic update webpage.

In this case, the RealTracks update for December 10th is here under Windows Software Updates at the top of the screen - RealTracks Update (Dec 10 2015.
