2016 EverythingPak was working fine last week or so. Now when I plug it in I get an active USB icon with a green check mark in the task tray but it does not show up in "My Computer" aka; "This PC" Windows 8.1. So I am unable to open the program and use it.
If I plug in my BIAB 2011 USB version it pops up right away and shows up in my E drive like normal.
Any ideas on how to get my computer to recognize it again?
BTW I have the basic 2016 version installed on hard drive without the real styles. That works fine. What my computer does not find is the external hard drive connected via USB cable. Using same USP port that finds the 2011 version instantly.
Does the noise in your head bother me ?

Sounds like a 'not enough power' issue.
I agree with suggesting trying different USB ports (usually rear of computer is better) and using both USB plugs from the dual end of the cable.
The new drive may have different power requirements.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Presumably the computer is a desktop, not a laptop?
If it's a laptop:
a: make sure it is connected to mains power
b: try selecting a USB port as near as possible to the power adapter cable connection point
c: as mentioned, if you have a 'Y' cable, connect both USB connectors to the computer (my 2016 Audiophile doesn't have a 'Y' cable).
Alternatively, make sure the drive can mount successfully on a separate computer.
On the computer with the issue, connect the USB drive, then go to Control Panel > Device Manager and see if there is any small yellow exclamation marks next to any devices in the list, indicating that the device is 'available' but not correctly recognized (maybe a driver error etc)

Followed the instructions in the link offered by DC Ron and sure enough the hard drive was loose inside the case. (The Band was loose in the Box) There is approximately 3/32" slack side to side and maybe 1/8" slack behind the drive opposite the connections. So, it can easily wiggle back and forth and then slide back enough to disconnect. I cut some small pieces of hard foam padding to size and packed them in to take up some slack and help prevent dislodging again.
Looks like a decent quality Toshiba hard drive. Maybe PG could offer a better fitting case for it. I kind of don't like the 1 inch USB dongle cord that has to hang out to connect a USB cable to it either. Seems vulnerable to wear and tear. I would rather have a simple USB slot with a fold-over flap to keep it clean.
The instructions in the link look like an older or different case/cover without a screw. My 2016 version has a micro screw that was not too difficult to access. I disconnected and reconnected the hard drive and my computer was then able to find it instantly. I've never been rough with it and don't think I've ever dropped it but now I feel a little insecure transporting it anywhere and then depending on it without having to fix it at the spur of a moment.
Might call PG on Monday to see what they suggest.

Glad to know it's working and thanks for the feedback which is useful for others. Your addition of foam padding should probably stop this occurring again. Be mindful that they are very delicate instruments, with multiple spindles and very small heads that scan across the disk surface. TLC is the order of the day!
