I get the feeling that when you use the auto ending with fadeout in BIAB 2009 Win, the effectiveness depends a great deal on what style you choose? The problem I have is that the style I'm using ends the last note suddenly rather than slowly fading.
I've tried adjusting the song settings and the bar settings for number of bars, fade etc, but either the changes have no impact on the ending, or it sort of peters out without really ending properly. Also, despite the fadeout, the drums carry on beyond the music, so I have to mute them as well in the final bar.
Please note that I'm *not* looking for several bars of fade as if a track fades out slowly at the end - I just don't want a sudden stop on the last note, but for that last note to fade slowly to nothing.
Can anybody give me some pointers about the best way to resolve this type of ending problem?

Well, the fadeout is a bar-by-bar proposition and not a note-by-note thing.
What you are really searching for is a way to accomplish a sustain on that last note only.
If the last note is from RealTracks, I'm afraid there isn't much that can be done inside BIAB for that.
If it is MIDI, there may be some tricks, using Hold feature followed by a different chord from the last chord in the following bar that is Rest All Instruments. Be sure to extend the song length appropriately to match.
Then use a CC64 "sustain pedal" command on the MIDI notes, which acts like the sustain pedal on a piano. This may or may not work well, depending upon the instruments involved, though.

Wow Mac - you certainly know your stuff!
It's midi, not Realtracks so that should give us more flexibility. But it sounds a bit complex. I thought I would just have to change a setting!
I'll look into what you suggest. Does the process you propose mean that the last note also decreases in volume to the end of its life, or does it simply stop suddenly but at a later point in time?

That really depends on the MIDI Patch involved, what instrument it is and how the sampling/modelign of the patch was done.
A piano patch, for example, is likely to die out gradually or sustain until the CC64 command is turned off, whichever occurs first.
An organ or strings patch, though, may continue droning on forever until the CC64 command is turned back to zero or off.
