Sometimes in BB, I will hear a part of a song that I really like. Like a riff in the guitar part. I have tried copying that and pasting it to another part in the song that has the same chords, hoping to capture that riff, and use it where I want. I don't think it is working. Is there a way in BB to do that, while fleshing out a song, without going into RB?

BB doesn't really lend itself to that kind of audio editing. Really, not to much of that kind of MIDI part editing either. Best bet is to transfer to RB or PT or the static sequencing software of choice for doing that kind of thing. Note that I didn't say it was impossible in BB, let's just say that it requires a lot of work and workaround to accomplish. BB wasn't really designed for that.

gene, don't know if it will work, but have you tried copy/paste in the notation window? iirc, i had reasonable success that way. give it a try then post back. we'll try something else.

Bear in mind that the copy and paste method would only stay stuck on the Melody, Soloist or Audio tracks because BB will regenerate a new set of tracks for the rest every time the song is loaded again or every time you press play again. The autoaccompaniment tracks.

Mac is right. If you want to copy-paste Bass, Drums, Piano, Guitar or Strings you can do it only for short time. Start playing back with "Replay" because next time you'll use "Play" BIAB will re-generate the notes in the above channels and you 'll loose your changes.

Hi Gene,
Don't forget that you can make your own Hybrid style and have that guitar/keyboard riff or part you like and then keep pressing play until you get the version you like and then freeze as a Midi file

I have not tried Hybrid styles yet. As I use these programs more and more, I eventually run into something that I want to do that I don't think of at first. I bite off little pieces of the "learning curve" until I feel confident, and then move on. I saw the make your own styles early on, but did not take time yet to figure it out. Maybe I should. It sounds like a good way to customize BB to one's own needs.

Hi Gene,
It is good that the Hybrid feature is so easy to use - a sort of one click selection for each part and save it as your style
