Life is getting in the way of my music so I don’t have a lot of time to practice and the EWI-USB wind controller is a monster to master, the octave shift rollers are driving me nuts, so I’m still trying to play slow easy stuff. Mr Blues is a simple blues jam practice session where I’m concentrating on the EWI first and my bass playing second. Constructive criticism is welcomed. Thanx

Keep workin' it, slowly but surely gettin' there.
Practice jsut runnin' the scales slowly and in time. Pick that blues scale and do so in one key, then up a 4th, do it again, rinse and repeat around the circle like that.

It is getting there. Just needs some variation. Doing some runs up the scale, like Mac said. It has a good sounding tone to it all. Just get some different melody variation.

Most folks think you just pick up the windcontroller & start playing it. Pick a sax patch & voila!...you sound like a sax player. (trumpet etc.)
I give 2 thumbs up for it being so new to you. Ya done good! The octave rollers on the EWI, & the octave keys on the WX are ALWAYS what newbies find most troublesome.
Paraphrasing what Mac said, "practice, practice, practice." Get it to the point it becomes as natural as using a fork. I've found that if you're afraid it's not going to come out right, it doesn't. When you don't care...it gets easier.

Thanx all for listening and the encouraging comments.
Mac, that is exactly what I’m doing, i.e. slowly running scales. I feel that I have set up the EWI-USB to fit my playing style so now it’s just practice time.
Gene – thanx for listening and the comments. I used this piece as an aid for setting up the EWI-USB to match my playing style. I understand the redundancy comment and I am practicing.
Mick, I knew I wasn’t going to be an “instant success” with this instrument. I’ve played trumpet in the past so I chose this wind controller because it had brass fingerings. This is similar to trumpet fingering but not exactly the same and the playing technique is totally different. I’m viewing this adventure as learning a brand new instrument. It will be months, if not years, before I’m proficient at this. But I WILL succeed. Why? Because this wind controller makes my sax/horn samples sound much more realistic than I can accomplish using either my keyboard or my guitar midi controller.
Thanx for the patchman site. Years ago I purchased some Yamaha TX81Z discs and some Kawai K1M disc from him. It was nice to see that he still is in business.

Mario, Kudos to you for even attempting to learn a new instrument. I'm not the best/worst Pianer player out there, but I am also self taught as well. Biab is the perfect tool for practicing with. You are already miles ahead of me then when I first started. I started off playing single notes (in a band, LOL) on a synth. This sounds great, nothing to be embarassed about here brother. You are on your way and I look forward to watch/listen to ya work it out. I enjoyed this one. Don't be shy and let her rip next time Trax

Thanx all for listening and the encouraging words.
Swanman – some of my best leads come from the mistakes I made on the previous lead Playing from your guts IS the name of the game in music.
Russ, Danny, Trax and Noel – Thanx – That was a simple song that didn’t have to many notes or runs but I tried to put some feeling into it while playing it. That is something that is very hard for me to do on a guitar controller and I’m not a real keyboardist so I can’t do it very well on my keys either. Capturing the feel while playing it is much better than trying to add feel via CC’s after the notes have been recorded. I just need to practice more.
Thanx all

Sounds good, - that ought to occupy your spare time for a while. Bad thing about being retired - you never get a day off.
