While waiting for a just-purchased UltraPAK on a USB drive to arrive, I decided to download the app and RealDrums installers to get the patches up to date, and to explore a bit. The downloads and installations appear to have gone properly, but when I attempt to launch the app, I get a dialog with debug error 1386, and the message "unable to create file...DrumFolderNames.txt". Hitting either Cancel or OK shuts down the app. The drum files appear to be in the Drums folder, at least many files with the appropriate creation time are there. Permissions for the BIAB folder, and the drums folder are set to full read/write. A reboot doesn't help. I have also tried re-installing the application (no real drums) and a launch attempt gives the same result. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Try downloading and installing just the app again, may have been a bad dowload.

I just did that with the same result. The computer is one of the new Mac Pros, lots of memory, disc space, and such. Strange!

Do you have an "admin" account with full permissions? If not, try moving the Applications/Band-in-a-Box folder to your home folder (Finder-Places-"Your Name"). Then you can run it with full permissions.

(I repaired permissions without changing the problem, but thanks for the reminder.) When this problem first surfaced, I looked at the permissions for the BIAB folder and application, and my username (the one used by the OS in system password dialogs, and the one with which I log in) was there with read/write permissions, so I thought that to be correct. But now that I have added 'admin' to the user list with full permissions, the problem has vanished. Thanks for correctly nailing the problem.
