Haven't used it for a while, but needed it again. But not a good start.
Discovered there is now a update warning. Sounds good, but it doesn't work. I have 4 items to update, but nothing is downloaded (stays at 0%).
Second problem. Loaded a mgu file. Plays fine. But as soon as I try to change or add a style (Stylepicker), BIAB crashes. Or immediately or after a few bars.

Don't know why your update isn't working, but you can always go to the PGMusic support page and download the latest BIAB update manually. Then just run the program you downloaded to install the update.
Don't know about the second problem, but applying the update may help. Also, be sure to run BIAB as administrator, as that seems to fix some of the problems.

I would have said what John said.
Can you please give more detail:
1) what is the warning - what does it say, and is it a message from BIAB or Windows?
2) describe the crash - is it a complete computer freeze, BIAB exiting, or what?
3) does it still do this after going to the latest update available for version 2015?
4) have you made changes to your computer since it worked, particularly hardware and especially the sound card?

- Updates can be downloaded from the site. I'd recommend that to solve problem #1 http://www.pgmusic.com/support.htm- I'd recommend going into the StylePicker with the program stopped (not playing), maybe it needs to be updated or something.

Thanks for the fast replies.
Updates are kind of done. Running as admin did the trick. A bit weird.
One of them was corrupted. Getting the advice to download again. But the download manager does not have an option for this (I see only the install (corrupted) button. Because it is not downloaded in my default download folder, I have to figure out where BIAB downloads it and probably do a manual download. Not in the mood for that anymore. It is midnight here.
There is no warning for the crash. It just freezes. BIAB only, not Windows. No idea if the update helped, because cannot do it right now. No changes and no new sound card.

If you click on 3 or 4 different things in a very short period of time BiaB, as well as a number of other programs that I have, freeze. Somewhere on the program (in BiaB I believe it is on the same window as the song title- not at my music computer) you will see not responding. Are you seeing this when BiaB freezes?
Back in my day the only time we started panic buying was when the bartender shouted "last call"!

If it's three years or older, these are the typical signs of a hard drive that's about to go the way of the dinosaurs. My word of advice: change the hard disk sooner rather than later and get a fx. 500GB SSD drive. You can thank me later.  HTH,

Well, it is solved. I thought run as administrator would be needed for the updates only. But everything is solved when I run as administrator. This is a bit weird. No other software has this problem for me. The update install did work this time, without manual download. The "corrupted" version works as administrator.
Stylepicker thought it needed updating every time I had a different user (user vs administrator). So, using BIAB as administrator only, seems to be the solution.

And yes, the Administrator privilege is an often overlooked feature. BiaB requires this to interact with other 'privileged' functions including the O/S.

If you right-click the exe file, you can select Properties and then Compatibility
Then you'll see an option to Run this program as Administrator (a check box at bottom)
This makes it so you don't have to always right-click and 'Run as Administrator' when launching the program. The system will then know to do that for you.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome
