Thanks Peter. I woiuld like to see some way to manage voice leading chords in a more precise way. Also, regardless of which artist style you choose to emulate, or which fretboard positions you might specify, or the range of frets over which the chords might be expected to be distributed - the end result of the chord melody generation in the current versions of BIAB is, in my experience, a surfeit of finger style bits scattered around a lot split chords and chord fragments - just like the pro's do in the real world of course, but they are creating the arrangement on the fly, or they are incredible readers, or both!
That all may be a bit of an exaggeration, but for learning purposes I would like to start a piece with some drop 2 or 3 chords, for example, then perhaps have the programs compile a passage with some extensions and substitute chords perhaps by virtue of some readily available controls. It would also be great to work in some finger style or arpeggiated passages, or even a whole song done that way but with greater control over the outcome in the tab without having to rearrange the entire business in a notation program after the fact,
I do realize that since placing melody notes on top of chords in meaningful ways is hard enough as it is - probably one would need to write a whole new program just for this purpose, rather than making it a module in an accompaniment software.
