Hi all. FYI: I'm using PT/RB 2016. On a W7 machine.
When I open either PT or RB, I have only 8 1/2 tracks visible. Because the tracks are very wide on my screen. Piano is hidden.
I've checked out a ton of on line videos, and in every case I see 14 to 15 tracks. And that's WITH piano on.
My screen matches the ones in the videos. As in, the top two rows of toolbars/icons, and the bottom tool bar with the start, stop, etc. functions. Piano is hidden.
My PC screen resolution is maxed out. (at recommended setting)
I've been using BIAB/PT since version 7. Many years. I used to have 13 tracks visible. Since version 10 or 11 (I forget) I'm stuck with 8 totally visible tracks. And part of track 9.
BTW: I know how to drag/resize or toggle to view the bottom half of the tracks to edit, etc. The problem isn't that I made the tracks too wide. I have them at the minimum. (Sized to just open enough to see the drop down menu arrow, using the arrow to toggle to that size.)
Also . . . I read in my HELP that if I click on the drop down arrow under the track number I can toggle between 3 settings. Normal, open (for editing) and small/narrow. It says toggle and it will rotate between the 3.
When I toggle, I get only 2 choices. Open or normal.
I'm using a 40" screen, just upgraded from my 32". It was bad enough with the 32". I don't need tracks over an inch wide. Way too much scrolling.
Ideas? TIA, Wayne thenettrainer@yahoo.com
PS: Both interfaces use up way too much real estate! My icons are huge! The tool bars are too wide. Too much wasted space.

"Your screen is maxed out" This doesn't tell us your resolution.
Not the resolution on the 40" screen, but on the computer. The computer controls what the monitor displays as far as resolution. If your screen resolution on the computer is 768 height, you may not see more tracks regardless of the screen size, as the computer video card determines this.
The screen would just make it bigger but not add more space. Your comment on your icons being huge leads me in this direction.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome Make your sound your own!

I'm not sure what you're saying.
I go to control panel, adjust screen resolution.
The recommended reso is 1360 768, which is the top, highest choice. And that's where I'm set.

Yes, that means your pixel height is 768 pixels. At this resolution you may not (and likely will not) see many tracks in the Tracks window .. if I understand your original question.
Even if your screen is HUGE the computer is spreading 768 pixels across that screen (as far as height). So what happens is things just get bigger, instead of more of them fitting in the same space. In this scenario you could have a commercial Jumbo Screen and you would see no more tracks than you currently do .. they would just be bigger.
You mentioned that your icons seem huge; this is what made me think this was the problem. If you want to run a 40" screen you need a better video driver to make it worth it, otherwise you are just making your notebook screen bigger (not better or more accurate).
/I assume this is a notebook only because of the 1360/768 resolution you mention.
FWIW On this system I am using a 1920X1080 screen resolution and only see 11 tracks, so not a whole lot of difference. I have larger resolutions at work that I can test on, but thought I'd post my results for my resolution.

Thanks, Rharv! Problem solved!!!!
No longer using the onboard video card, and have 16 glorious tracks in view!
Life is good again!

If you want to run a 40" screen you need a better video driver to make it worth it, otherwise you are just making your notebook screen bigger (not better or more accurate). Also likely a better video card with more RAM would help, but with a laptop you are kind of stuck. This is one of the many reasons I won't use a laptop for heavy use applications like a studio computer. The video card in my new studio computer is an Nvidia with 4gb of video ram. I use a 27 inch HP monitor using an HDMI channel and I get resolution so deep I could count your nose hairs if you send me a picture.... With a laptop you are stuck with what they give you on that onboard video card.

Dude, I AM using my PC! LOL With a 40" HiDev tv/monitor. My desk is 7' x 3 1/2'. My desk chair is a Lazy Boy recliner. And I use a wireless back lit keyboard and wireless mouse.
So each track (before) was over an inch wide. Maddening!
Now with 16 tracks, each one plenty wide enough . . . life is good.
I don't even have the software on my laptop. I only use that 17" LT for running my backing tracks through the PA. Pretty much all that's on it is iTunes, and MiniLyrics (scrolling text program) and my backing tracks. And my Fishman wireless midi controller software. (Dumped the Roland midi system a while ago.)
