I'm not sure where to post this, so here goes.....I'm using RealBand with a Ketron SD2 and a Presonus Firestudio Project. I'd like to make my first CD or MP3 tune. I am taking the MIDI tracks and soloing each back through my Firestudio to create an audio file. Once this is completed, the entire tune will be audio, including my guitar solo. So, do I strip out all of the MIDI controllers (pan, volume, reverb, etc) before bouncing and then mix each track once converted to audio? After this is done, then what do I do next? Thanks.

Omce the MIDI tracks are converted to Audio tracks, just MUTE the MIDI tracks for the sake of archiving purposes in case you have to revert back, and keep on mixin' on...

It all depends on what you want to do. I usually centralise the Pan for each track and set the Volume to show about -6db on the VU Meter to avoid clipping. The Ketron sound module sets default effects for both Reverb and Chorus and these will be included in your recordings. If you wish to record dry tracks and then use DX/VST audio effects on the resultant Wave tracks at a later stage then open the Mixer, find the "ALL" Column and reset the two radials at the top of the column from 127 (default) to Zero. Note that these settings will remain until manually altered.

This really helps, thanks. When finished mixing the individual bounced tracks, how do I create a CD or MP3 file? Probably sounds stupid, but I need some help.

In outline, I use Audio > Merge Audio to Stereo Wave File to produce a final mixed track which I then load back to the original Seq file with Audio > Import Wave File. The Wave track can then be Mastered. To produce a CD, I transfer the final Mix from each of say 15 songs to a separate folder and test for uniform volumn before using a CD Burner to produce the CD.

you master the stereo WAV in Real Band?
Would you be willing to talk a bit more about how you go about it (not necessarily how you master a particular song, but a bit about which RB tools you use for mastering, and the order of operations)

Don't get MP3 and CD files confused. MP3 files are compressed and are not CD quality. Do all your work in WAve file and save for burning to CDs, then after tha you can convert to MP3s individually or collectively to a separate folder for posting and streaming on the net.
I use either Lame or DBPowerAmp to convert wave to MP3.

Generally on the final mix you will want to add a EQ, Compressor and the final effect in the chain should be the PG peak limit. If you have a limiter that would go after the eq and compressor. The Peak limit is always the last effect in the chain. EQ to taste, then a starting point for the compressor would be attack as fast as possible, release the lowest possible try a ratio between 2:1-6-1. Set the Limiter to where it lights only to 0. These settings are meant as starting places and a not concrete for every song. My Music
