When importing a stereo audio file into a track one stereo channel is is offset to the other stereo channel creating a sort of slap back echo effect. I can also see it is offset (looking at the stereo channel waves in the track) is there any fix for this?

*What version of Powertracks?

*Are you importing as a single stereo track? (I'm thinking that perhaps importing a stereo track to two single mono tracks might be a problem here).

*Try it with a stereo audio track from another source, see if the same thing happens.

Haven't encountered this one yet...

Pay attention to where the marker is when you import.
It may have imported at 1-1-4 (or something) instead of at 1-1-0.
The file will import to the current marker position. Just hitting rewind before importing will ensure it starts at the beginning.

If it is an issue wuth the source material you can copy the track and paste it a little earlier, or highlite the whole track (track - select whole track) and hold down the ctrl key while you use the mouse to slide it back a bit. You'll need a little empty space (un-highlited) to slide it back, as it cannot slide before the beginning of the song.

Another option is to highlite a small section before the track starts and use the cut feature, making sure to select the 'close gap' radio button, and this will nudge it back toward the beginning also.

Thanks for your suggestions
Yes, importing a regular CD track to 1.1.0 on the latest version of the program. It asks where you want to start the track before importing and I choose the << symbol to reset to the beginning.

CD tracks have usually been edited before burning, or the burner software could have added a bit. Sounds like an editing job is in order.. Shouldn't be too hard

I f I play the CD file from a player like real player it sounds fine. it just seems to get corrupted in the importing of the file to a track. If I import to mono it sounds fine (except its in mono)

Can your CD burner import it as a wave file? Ner Roxio and others can do this, may want to try it there, then import the file in PT.

You are importing the file as a .cda file (right off the CD) right?

Actually, I am ripping the CD first then importing the file. Plays fine in Realplayer but gets corrupted when importing to a stereo track in Power Tracks

What are you ripping it with? You might want to try a different program to rip it with. Nero can do it, WinAmp can do it, iTunes can do it, etc.

If you just can't get it to work with a ripped version, then I would recommend just "recording" the track. Set your recording properties to "what you hear" (or "stereo mix", or whatever your soundcard calls it), queue up the CD in your favorite player (RealPlayer should be fine, since you already use it), load PowerTracks (PTPA), arm a stereo track in PTPA, hit the record button, click over to RealPlay and hit the play button. As long as your recording levels are set okay, I believe you'll have a hard time telling the difference between the ripped and the recorded version.

Just a thought. It will only take you the time it takes to play the song, which is a lot less than the time we've spent discussing it on the forum.

The most recent version of PT will rip the CD right into a wav.
File-Open or File - import

Thanks for all the suggestions. I am using Free Rip but I don't think that is the issue since the ripped version sounds fine played back thru any .wav player other than Power Tracks

The point I was making is not to assume that it's not the problem, but try a different method just in case it is. Perhaps there is an error in the ripped file that the other players are ignoring, but PTPA is interpreting. Don't know. But it seems to be worth the couple of minutes to try different solutions.

The simplest would be to use PT to rip the file to a track...
it has worked well here before.
Is the track an original, or is it possible it has DRM associated with it?
