I've just purchased Real Tracks Set 29 to try out with my current Coyote Forte & Real Drums for jazz tunes. PG music is shipping a CD but I also have a download link. Any ideas on download time for this one set. I have a cable connection for my internet.
Thanks

Try it. It should not take long on cable. Total is about 830mb. If it is taking too long, just cancel it and wait for your CD.

I've got Verizon DSL service and while I don't remember how long it took, I did download the whole shebang when it came out (BIAB Ultrapack with all RealTracks and all RealDrums and all extras). That took quite some time, but for just one RT set, I'd say hit the download and go grab a beer. It'll probably be done, or close to it, by the time you get back.

I did the same thing and most of the sets downloaded in 15-20 minutes but for some reason PG's servers got overloaded at one point and a few of them took over an hour. There's a lot of confusion about dl times. I have up to 10 mbits/second with Time Warner but rarely get that high with most websites. They just have too much traffic to output at that level. I don't remember exactly now but I don't think I ever hit 1mbit with PG's servers it was all in the 500-800kb range.

Hi Frank,
I always download the files electronically. I discovered a little freeware program called Free Download Manager (FDM) that resumes downloads on those servers that permit resuming. Most of PGMusic downloads have the ability to resume so this means that you can do it in bits and pieces if you want. (Which is especially useful if a connection drops out.) This program might be worth investigating.
From memory, the default installation of FDM downloads 4 segments simultaneously. My recollection is that PGMusic prefer a single segment download so that their server is available to the maximum number of people. You can change FDM's download setting under OPTIONS >> DOWNLOAD OPTIONS >> NETWORK.
Regards, Noel

I downloaded the OmniPAK last year and it took ages. Finally went for the USB HDD. However, what you are calling for should take maybe 15 minutes or so. My cable connection gives me 100mbps or 50 mbps by WiFi.
Download... or wait

Well...each Real Set 29-1 & and 29-2 took about 15 minutes each to download via my cable.
They sound great ...Mr Green has joined the band!
Perfect with with Real Drums and Coyote Forte piano & bass.
Some midi instruments just don't quite cut it, and Real Tracks are a great alternative.
I'll be the first in line to purchase Real Tracks nylon string Bossa Nova guitar and Hammond B-3 jazz organ.
Thanks for all your input!

I recently purchased the Ultra-pack. I was floored at how large the RT files were, I was a BIAB enthusiast back when it was mostly midi. I downloaded the drums and a few RT's just to get a feel for them. When the mailing came I installed the rest. I was going to install them on a usb drive but decided the space, about 40 gigs in my estimation, was worth giving up on my 640 gig C-drive. I am getting a second drive and may transfer the RT's over there on the second partition, first partition goes for temp files.
My wife and I are extremely excited about this wonderful software! I put up a jazz melodist and some real track backing and she started improvising, sounded fantastic. Thanks to all the musicians and techs for the enormous amount of work that it must have taken to put this together!
