Excellent. Fixes the glitch I had on my rig that kept me from being able to use the QWERTY Conductor controls on frozen files. Great feature when playing live and you want to extend or shorten a song.

For live gigs I like to have the small(150) metronome visible during whole song, beats 1 and 3. Curious that now even though numbers 1 and 3 display, they are displayed on beats 2 and 4. Tried changing display to 1,4 and 1,2,3,4, etc. -- always one beat off. Wondering if this just on my laptop rig which probably doesn't have the greatest display performance. Anyone else see this issue?

Thanks

Hi John,

Just tried setting the visible metronome here (XP SP3) to 1 and 3, tried several different demo songs and it works as advertised.

Maybe it is the freeze function, don't have a frozen song here at the moment to try, or maybe it is something else, latency or the like.

Please try with some of the demo songs, both older all MIDI and try some RealTracks demos also, to ascertain whether or not this is a function of the songfile itself or the like.

Please try the Return to Factory Settings command under the Opts window also, see if that fixes things for you.

Please tell us more: OS? etc.

Interesting.

Experiments show it's related to tempo. For speeds below 119 the metronome window works fine, for speeds above it's always one beat late. For 119 the beat display is unstable.

Same for files with Realtracks or just midi, frozen or not.

System is Dell Laptop 1.7GHz, 1G RAM
XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 SP2 (and yes, this OS variant has been reported as problematic for BIAB).

I think it may be a MIDI synth latency problem, since you report it changing behaviour with the BPM setting, which would be consistent with that.

What are you trying to use for the MIDI output synth at the time?

What sound drivers?

***Sounds like time to revisit the MIDI/Audio output and reset that up to account for any possible latencies. A fat way to do that all at once is to choose that Opt -> Return to Factory Settings and pick the second choice, which invokes the Soundcard/MIDI wizard and then reselect things as prompted.

Thanks for looking into this Mac.

I use the Roland VSC DXi, driver latency says 104 but I've never worried much about latency as I play guitar and don't use Midi Thru.

But - latency got me thinking. So, the problem fixed after noting that (doh!) I'd installed the 9.5 BB.exe onto the external hard drive. Moving this back to the C drive fixes this problem.

An interesting thing I noticed this morning is the Conductor mode (Enabled Control by Qwerty) works great on all middle choruses (I have it set to execute changes at the Next Chorus). However, when the song is in the final chorus and I command it to go back to middle chorus, the audio does this flawlessly at the end of the chorus - but the black moving bar display jumps immediately to the beginning of the chorus and stays out of synch with the audio.

All considered, still very happy that the audio glitches are fixed for this realtime-redirect function, Surely all who use BIAB live in impov settings will be very happy with this. I know of no other product that supports live use.

I run BIAB from USB drive almost exclusively, no problems.

I think that if you *installed* BB onto the C: drive, it is likely that those latency settings were somehow corrected by the new install.

Have Fun,

Yes Mac,

I do believe you're right about the midi settings being the real culprit for that metronome window. All better now.

However, I'm still finding issues with that last chorus when jumped to from conductor when using Real-tracks. Doesn't seem to recognize tag endings.

9.5 version much better, but just ever-so-slightly away from being perfect for live gigs.

-- and yes, I do really have fun with all this.

Thanks,
John

I tested on one TAG ending song during the beta and it worked.

Let me try a few others and see if I can duplicate John's findings...

Just did a download of some of the 9.5 real tracks, including jazz...my specific music genre,
and I love the 9.5 edition...ordered the "Everything HD" yesterday

I'm a guitarist but I've just bought a couple of bass guitars and would love to have a "bass view" of the real tracks playing the specific bass line that I'm hearing...with the actual fingering/position-playing going on. Not possible on realtracks?

Looks like only 5 of the Bass RealTracks are chart supported at the moment. These are the Electric Bass parts at the end of the list in the Assign RealTracks to Track window.

You can find out which are currently charted there by looking in the "Charts" column.

Yes, only a few of the bass tracks have RealCharts. We hope to add more in the future. You can see which ones have RealCharts by using the column in the RealTracks Assign dialog that lists RealCharts status.

Thanks for the clarifications...let's hope that in the future you may be able to broaden bass charts into the acoustic end of things. I'm just enjoying the heck out of the new "real editions".
At 75 1/2 I may just attempt to get a one-man jazz/vocal gig going again, in a cabaret...there are plenty just north of me in Melbourne, Fl. Hope I still sound enuff like Mel Torme to cover the standards and jazz instrumentals, with some real track/drums/solo backing!
