Hi Everyone,
I am working through the Jazz Guitar Master Class program (which is great, by the way), and would like to play some of the exercises through Native Instruments Bandstand. Does anyone know if the "GL" midi files included in the data (with file names such as "GL101" for example) are standard midi files? When I load these files into Bandstand, Winamp, or any other midi player they do not sound correct - they seem to play correctly only within the Jazz Guitar Master Class program. I have also tried loading these GL midi files into BIAB (where I am using Bandstand), and they do not play correctly there either. If they are not standard midi files, does anyone know if SMF versions of the exercises for this program are available?
Even better, I guess, would be to have the Jazz Guitar Master Class program play its midi files through Bandstand, much as I have been able to get BIAB play through Bandstand. Does anyone know if this is possible - in other words, to use a VST plugin for midi playback in Jazz Guitar Master Class?

Select File > Options... > MIDI driver, and you should be able to select available options. Neither Forte or VSC (both on my computer) appear on my menu here, so I'm suspecting soft synths don't work with the program.
I am able to open the GL###.MID files with Real Band, and from there have more options for playback. Hope this helps some. I agree - great program. I'm ever so slowly trying to work my way thru it.

This program was written long before DXi technology synths were a gleam in the eye of developers.
Therefore it does not support DXi nor VSTi technology directly.
There may be workarounds, such as running a Virtual MIDI Cable software *and* a DXi/VSTi synth player software at the same time, but having tried such things I must warn you that it can be a real pain to have to get all that working -- and then go through it all each time you want to use the program.
Use of a good sounding hardware MIDI synth via a standard MIDI connect hardware such as USB-to-MIDI or the like, is by far the easiest way to get great sounds plus zero latency and very easy operation here. Check out the Ketron SD2 Orchestral Wizard, sold by pgmusic also. Great sounds, ease of operation, compatible with the program.
