Hi,
I was wondering as to what time of the year does PG tradionally release a new version of powertracks?
I know that biab is in December but not too sure about the above?

How up-to-date are you? There has recently been released a PTPA 12 update. Check the support area

Hello Sam,
Naw I have an older version 10 of powertracks. I was just wondering when the new version will be released as I don't want to buy 12 and then a few mths later find that the new version is available.

Over the years, I guess the most-often seen release date has been around the Christmas/New Year's mark, but this is certainly not etched in stone.
There are no guarantees made either way here.
But, if you feel you need the newer features offered in PT ver 12 -- and they are substantial if you are still plodding along on ver 10 -- you should go ahead and do the upgrade.

PGMusic folks are really great about this issue anyway, if you purchase and they then release an upgrade within a *reasonable* amount of time after your purchase, simply contact PGMusic Sales and they have historically given a download link for the newer version to those folks.

I'm on 10 too, Paddy. Nothing in it that I need now that RB is around. $29 is not a lot of money anyway

Thanks for replies. Not installed on my computer as I generally use cubase. Must check as it may have the tc-helicon what I have been looking for.

PTPA 10 has the TC Helicon. There is a little blue button with a small 'h' on it. It is on the same menu bar row as the icon for open, save, cut, etc. If you hover your mouse over it, it shows 'Generate Audio Harmonies'. That's it

FWIW, IMHO nothing has been updated since PTPA 10 with regard to TC Helicon that would be of interest to you, seeing as you use Cubase as your main DAW tool.
That is precisely why I don't bother with updating it. I use RB, which gives me all I need and more.

If you are expecting to have the TC Helicon available in the new 2009.5 release of RealTracks, check to see if that can be done or not.
I seem to recall that we must have version 12 of PT for that share to work, but may be wrong.
Of course, for export into Cubase, PT 10's Helicon should do the trick.

Yes, but if you want to use RealBand, the new update of RB now works with TC-Helicon, BUT, you must have the newest (v.12) version of PTPA in order to use Helicon in RB (The Helicon is in the PT, not in the RB -- that hopefully will happen in the future). Only $29... I paid it.

Agreed. If you want to use it in RB, you need PTPA 12. However, it is in PTPA 10 in any case and if you don't need to use it in RB, then you don't need to update.

OK I am bumping this thread just for the attention of PG music I use PTPA12 I also use SONAR PE 8 and yes I will be upgrading to the upcoming Sonar PE version 9 this month or next. I also have Cubase (since it came with my Motif XS7) I also have BIAB and RB 2009.5 and ALL Real track and am current on all I also have and use a lot of PG’s OTHER SW titles (essentially anything and everything about guitar and piano and Jazz and games and … Just not Barbershop, Choral, or Sax stuff) … I have sat patiently (and quietly) on side lines I fully understand and appreciate that RB was the new kid in town and essentially did a lot of what PTPA does. I also accept that PG will not abandon PT anymore than they did Mac stuff (just took them some time to update it) but While SONAR might seem to have more (well it actually does) features I find PTAP is my go to tool and has been for years for really knocking out ACTUAL work (not HIP HOP dance … looped beats called music). Like any profession all tools have a place and frankly I’d like a shiny new PTPA (with more of the stuff people go to Sonar and Cubase for but without all the overhead that comes with it – that’s WHY I like PTPA more anyway! I had always bought the upgrades (which came out in mid/late summer as counter point to winter BIAB it seemed) but it’s been a few YEARS so???? Now I will shut up and wait PS please don’t chime in with “PG will get to it” or RB is “just as good” I know the former is true and the latter is ALMOST true but it’s like Scotch: bourbon and whisky are close and do the job but it ain’t single malt scotch!
