In Biab 2009.5 the favorite styles and songs list is empty. After using the F button I get the message that I have to load favorite styles or songs. If I click the OK button I will enter the picker list. After clicking the F button I expact to see the window which keeps a list of the styles I have used. In that window you can also set the "OK to auto-add recent files" checkbox to true. Where is that window?

Thanks,
Jan R.

You should see the 'OK to auto-add recent files' once you press the F button(s). If there are no songs or styles, it will tell you. Once you pick a song or style, the window will show those items. Make sure the 'Ok auto-add' box is checked and everything you load will be there in the future.

No, It won't. After pressing the F button I get the message that there are no styles in the favorite list. After I press the OK button I will enter the same window as when I click the style button (left to the F button) After selecting and loading a style I press the F button again and the message is displayed. I am using Biab since version 2008, so I know it was always there and in version 2009.5 it isn't. So, I am not able to make sure the 'Ok auto-add' box, because that window is not showing up. That is the point. Maybe some kind of ini file with settings in it is missing.

Thanks,
Jan R.

Jan, I don't know the cause of your problem, but I have the latest build 285 of 2009.5, and I do have a full list in favorites.

Whenever BIAB doesn't do something that it supposed to do, or doesn't do it right, the first thing I always try is a reboot of the computer, if that doesn't do it then I try the Return to Factory Settings button under the Opts menu. Clears up many of these kind of problems.

Hi Mac,

Return to factory settings solved the problem for Biab 2009.5 (284). However, I installed update 285 and the issue re-occured. The F buton was not working fine anymore. I did a return to factory settings again and the issue was solved. Very strange. Can you or somebody else explain that to me?

Thanks,
Jan R.

I can't explain it because I don't know the code "under the hood".

It is enough for me to know that we have a way to correct the issue.

Have Fun,

Mac, this issue occurs on my hardware. That does not mean it will happen with other user too. I believe a possible root cause can be that I copies the c:\bb directory to my external hardisk x:\bb. Because is was not a complete Biab installation on X:\bb some parts are missing, like the PowerTracks DirectX Plugins. I am of the opinion that more files are missing or not working properly if you just copy \bb to another location.

That brings me to the next question: it is possible to install Biab to my external harddisk including all features, extra programs, tools, plugins, vsc, etc.? Those things that normally will be installed on c:\ outside the \bb directory, like c:\program files? In that case I can run Biab on other PC's just by using my external harddisk. That would be great.

Thanks,
Jan R.

The only "parts" of BIAB that write to the registry are the Fonts, the DX effects (PGMusic DX effects) and the VSC DXi synth.

If those are installed on the C drive, then all else can reside on an external drive and run okay by simply copying the C installed bb folder directly to that drive.

For my understanding: I have copied the c:\bb folder to my external drive. Biab works fine because the programs installed outside the c:\bb folder are recognized by Biab because I connect the harddisk to the same computer. Assume I connect the disk to a second computer, in that case Biab can't find the programs like Fonts, the DX effects (PGMusic DX effects) and the VSC DXi synth and won't work or limited. Is that right?

Thanks,
Jan R.

The second computer won't be able to use the pgmusic installed fonts to print music, nor will the pgmusic dx effects be available or the VSC synth -- unless it has had a previous install at some time.

This is easily solved by installing BIAB itself, without any Realtracks or Realdrums, to the host computer, then just move the bb folder installed there to the trash or delete it. The three things installed to that computer's registry will remain there and will be there for biab to use from the external drive.
