I think what would be cool would be if BIAB could "save as" a SEQ file that could preserve all the "BIAB" stuff. So any harmonies, any RealTracks, Realdrums, solos (MIDI or RealTrack), additional MIDI channels, etc would be saved to the SEQ file. Then just open the SEQ file in RealBand to finish editing it. It seems that one of the biggest gripes is that RealBand doesn't do some of the stuff BIAB does (such as soloist, harmonies, multi-styles, etc). Since PGMusic knows the file format, I would think it would be an easy matter to save it to the SEQ file format directly from BIAB (or call it export to SEQ or whatever).

I think that would go a long way towards bridging the gap between the two. It would also save time - you don't have to load scrap, insert wav files, etc. You would just open the SEQ file in RealBand and go from there.

Since RB may open .MGU files, wouldn't have BB save .SEQ files be kind of redundant?

I think that should be implemented as soon as possible, I've always wondered shy it wasn't that way to begin with.

Boy, if that could be implemented, it would yield a Save solution for complete transfer from BIAB to multitracking DAW in the form of RB or even PT without the export/file type/import dance going on.

I like that.

Although RealBand can open BIAB.MGU files and generate the tracks, there are some aspects of the BIAB file which cannot be recreated in RealBand such as Harmonies unless these are first transferred to the Melody and Soloist tracks in BIAB. I would be much in favour of BIAB having the ability to Save in the .SEQ format. Again, I would prefer for RealBand to have access to BIAB harmonies directly.

What a breath of fresh air that would be - think of the time saved.
+1 for SEQ save in BIAB.

Perhaps that SEQ file could also save the exact phrasing used in BIAB so the next time you load a given MGU/SGU file in BIAB you don't have to say "Wait a minute, that's not the guitar solo I liked!!! Geez, I'll have to regenerate to see if I can get it back!" ?? Two-for-one deal?
