Is there anyone else that has problem with "windows" that not will close down after been opened?

When I open Real Band 2009.5 (5)for the first time it is nice and clean. But after I have opened f.ex the Tracks window or the Mixer etc. and press ctrl-F4 to close them, they get minimized instead of closing. This happens to all extra windows that I open. They all become minimized when I press the close button.

Does it in PT, RealBand's "parent" also.

Part of the design, I don't let it bother me anymore, the amount of real estate used by the minimized tabs is not such that it prevents getting things done.

I agree that it is disconcerting to hit the X at top right and not have the window behave like all others in the Windows environment, but that's the way it is here. Always assumed there must be an underlying reason the coder did it that way.

Well, I can not agree that it is a part of the design.
It is more like a bug that not has been fixed.
I'm dealing with usability in different applications daily, so I must say that I don't like it.
When You get the menu option close window Ctrl-F4, it should close the window, not just minimize it.

But, I rather put an priority to get the software to work than getting confused over this minor problem.

I'm confused because I'm getting Access violation errors time after time. And have to restart the computer all the time.
But that is an other issue.

You have to acknowledge that it's part of the design. The designers have told us it is.

This was not meant to be a big discussion and I shall not make it to a discussion about design and standard for developing programs for windows. I just wanted to mention that it is not what an end user expect to find. When it says close You expect it to close.

But
I also found a workaround / design issue maybe, that fix the problem.
I reinstalled Real Band and when i use Ctrl-1, Ctrl 2, Ctrl-3 and so on to open the windows, the windows close or get hidden behind the others. So the solution is to use the keyboard shortcuts

That behavior is the MS Windows Multiple Document Interface (MDI) design standard. It is supposed to behave that way. The reason you don't expect it is MDI isn't used very much by application developers and is, therefor, uncommon.

I personally like the MDI standard. I have programmed a few apps myself usingg it and I have a couple of specialised commercial apps that use it.
