I'm using BiaB 2007.5 with a DXI. I've just noticied that unless 'Play' is active the MIDI thru gets sent to the Midi out driver rather than the DXI. I don't have the 'Route MIDI to MIDI Drvr' box checked in the MIDI drvr setup. If playing then the thru gets sent to the DXI driver as I expect. Shouldn't thru be sent to the DXI driver all the time if DXI is activated and option to send to midi drvr is disabled ?
I've got a SC55 on the midi drvr which doesn't have all the GM2 settings that the DXI does and it gets set to silent patches while setting up and not playing the song. Am I missing something ? I did a quick search of the forum's, didn't find anything and will look again.

Now that I'm playing with this some more I'm seeing some more odd things.
Chord options preview goes to the midi drvr, not the DXI. Big Piano Window uses the thru and sends to midi drvr, not DXI.
There's probably more. Now I've pretty much completed my conversion to DXi/VST so my hardware is pretty much legacy and doesn't stay turned on and setup any more very often, so this is pretty annoying now. Didn't matter too much when I was more HW based.
Granted BiaB doesn't ( need to support) multi-VSTs but it should send all its internal stuff to an enabled DXI rather than switch between the DXI and MIDI drvr's. I'm pretty sure I've got the latest build 242 but will check.
OFT: Midi piping to other apps ? Ideally, I'd like to be able to use BiaB as MFX vst in Sonar or FLS ( I don't have RealBand so I'll take a look at it). Instead, I'm back to translating to MIDI and exporting/importing rechannelizing as needed and then do voicing. And then, getting stuff back into BiaB is still awkward. I'm really seeing the value of MIDI files though as opposed to the proprietary formats ( though I'm sure they have there are uses internally ) but it sure is a pain in the arm. Doing the timing/tempo/looping etc across programs is probably too difficult anyway particularly once audio is involved, so then its wav xfers which can be effected but not really edited any more.
I'm still playing with midi-loopers (midi-ox, maple ) but haven't been too successfull setting up templates to drive things realtime.

I have found that use of ASIO sound drivers eliminates much of this.
BUT -- when using some certain DXi/VSTi solutions, I find that when first opening BIAB, my MIDI controller keyboard won't play the sounds on the Thru. So I hit Play and then Stop and for the rest of the session, it does.
As to the "why" of it -- I dunno! <g> My assumption is that the MME sound drivers must be or have been problematic in this area. For all I know, not all ASIO drivers will allow the trick to work, but it always worked fine with my AP2496 card, my E-MU 1616M and also using my laptop's internal soundcard with ASIO4ALL drivers. Because I need to hear my keyboard a lot, too, and I want to hear it playing the patch I've chosen.
Are you absolutely certain that Gravity is a wave? I'm not.
But then again, is Light a particle or is it a wave?
heh

Tried the ASIO drvr's, no joy - same thing. Maybe Win-7 updates will include WDM support and a possible 07 update ?? I don't think that this is a Vista drvr thing however as I don't see this in other prog's.
LIGO may just be more 'our tax dollars at work', but our grandkids will probably tax/sell it like the EM spectrum.

***Visit the updtes page and make sure you have downloaded the latest update for your version of the program. It may help. Latest update always contains all previous fixes too.***
If that doesn't do it, might be time to consider paying for the latest version of the program, too, 2007.5 is way behind the curve at this point...
Have Fun,
