Mac,I really don't know but it here is the link to Fenders site/Spec sheet. http://www.fender.co.uk/products//view_s...caster%26reg%3BAlder body,reckon it's 5 or 6 pounds. Glad you approve. Working on a sound file,new strings need to settle in first. Pickups get good reviews bit I can't help wondering what a set of Fat 50's would sound like. Oh Oh,here I go again. Alan

"Texas" overwinds.
Very good chance tht the pups already in that thing are overwound by the custom shop these days, anyway, those originated because the Fender assy wasn't counting turns too good back in the day and somewhere around the '59 mark or so, many went out the door with a lot more wire wrapped around the pole pieces than originally specified. That's what Stevie Ray discovered with his famous "number one" '59. Scatter-wrapped, overwound around a good piece of Alnico.
The overwinds exhibit a heckuva lot more quack when set to the in-between positions, favored a lot by those who spank the plank in R&B, Blooz and stuff...

With the GAS problem, it's always just a temporary fix....
I really like the understated elegance of that guitar - very classy looking.
The factory pups may just be fine; you'll have to give them a thorough test drive to find out. On my most recent MIA Strat I replaced the stock pups with a set of Hot Noiselss Jeff Becks, and the guitar was the better for it. I gave it to my son a couple of years ago for his birthday as he likes to play in the SRV style. I'm pretty old school when it comes to blues.
