I have PT and BiB connected to a Yamaha Tyros 3 via a 'to host' (usb) connection.The Tyros shows up in the 'midi driver setup' box as 'Digital Workstation'.
If the Tyros is not switched on when I boot up PT an error message 'midi device not found' or similar appears and Digital Workstation is no longer showing in the midi driver box.This problem doesn't occur in BiB.
Any ideas?

PT checks the system for registered driver choices when it boots up
Turn on tyros before firing up PT
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Yes, any USB devices must be hooked up and recognized by the OS *before* starting up PT or BIAB.
I leave my main USB connect hooked up at all times and use the power switch on the keyboard itself to turn it on before starting up BB, RB or PT. Works fine that way and If I forget to turn the keyboard on first, I don't have to fool with connections "down on the box" -- just close down the host program, then turn on the keyboard and restart the host.

Ok,thanks for your replies;I guess that's the difference between midi and usb connections, although BiB maintains the digital workstation option in the midi driver setup dialogue.

BIAB will retain all installed driver options, but some, like in the case of your USB connect, will be "grayed out" and unavailable if the thing is not connected and recognized by the Operating System *before* you start the program. This is typical in other programs, as well, though not all that I have here.
