When installing my Real Instrument Sets from DVD, the included instructions say that I can customize the installation by designating a drive other that the boot drive to install to, yet when it IDs my drives, all but the boot drive are Xed out, indicating that the files cannot be installed there. Does this mean I have to install them all to my boot drive, then copy them to an external drive and erase them on the boot drive? This seems like a lot of extra effort, especially since the installation program already correctly discovered them. Makes me wonder if they can safely be copied to another drive.
Is this normal behavior? Is it different on a Windows version machine?
I am using the Mac version of BIAB 2009 on a white Intel iMac 2 GHz Core Duo with 2 GB RAM running Mac OS X Leopard.

If your USB drive(s) are hooked up at that time of the install, then that's not normal behavior.
If they aren't attached at the time, then they may indeed be grayed out and not accessible.
Stop the Install program by cancelling, then attach the drive you wish to use and start the Installer again.
If its not that, something else is strange there.
You do not have to install to main drive and then copy later.

Mine are external FireWire drives and they are connected and functioning when I begin the installation. (As I said, the installer recognizes their existence; it just won't let the Instrument Sets be installed there.

Hello,
You must select a volume that you have Band-in-a-Box installed on (/Applications/Band-in-a-Box). If you want to choose a different location for your "RealTracks" folder (audio files), then you need to press the [customize] button and change the location there. The RealTracks data files will still get installed to /Applications/Band-in-a-Box on the selected volume, while the RealTracks folder will be installed in whatever custom location you chose.
Note that you would need to make sure to choose the location for each RealTracks install, so it may in fact be easier to install everything to the default location and move it later. Just as long as all of the RealTracks are in the same place.

Tech Support says I do have to go to the boot drive first and then copy the folder over to my external, so that's what I'm doing (as Andrew suggested above). Hope I can get everything ON my boot drive, as I just ordered the new additional Real Instrument Sets. Hopefully, the problem will be solved within the week (when I move everything en masse).
