Hi
The word Reaper has been mentioned many times on this forum so I decided to download it. I know it's a recording tool & that's it. I have no idea how to use it.
I have Biab 2018 running on Windows 7 & record mostly backing tracks using a mix of midi, RealTracks & audio. Everything is 32 bit.
I would appreciate some help with this program.....Hank

Hey there Rutabago,

I actually just recently posted a video demonstrating the very basics of porting your tracks over from BiaB to Reaper. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUKGWZhJ2vo

I intend to record and post a more in-depth tutorial in the coming days (although, TBH, once you're in Reaper you can avail yourself to a wealth of amazing tutorials and resources available online, Kenny Gioi's being my favorite among them).

Hi Hank Hope you are well.
Firstly I will post this

https://www.reaper.fm/videos.php
Kenny G the guy on the video is amazing at explaining things, way better than probably anyone .
Having said that heres a little help
If you want to edit ur tracks in anyway you can use Realband or you can drag ur track over to reaper from biab or realband. You can do this individually or in a group,
When you open reaper its intial state has no track loaded so it looks blank. When you drag the tracks over they will create a track for you or you can load tracks from the menu at the top called "track"
When ur track is in reaper u will see the track control panel on the left of the page. With this control panel you can do all sorts of things ,mute, put effects on,turn up volume ,pan etc
Kenny G is the man have a look at his videos but I find Reaper to be a great Digital Audio Workstation urs Hugh

As well as the Kenny Gioia videos on the Reaper site go to http://www.kennymania.com/reaper-videos/#reaper-5-explained

Where Kenny has the same videos as on the Reaper site and a whole heap more. There are probably something like 100 videos on Kenny’s site on all aspects of Reaper and how to get the most out of it and the Rea plugins.

The tip is to know where the videos are, and go to them or back to them as required.

There are also many, many videos on YouTube about various aspects of Reaper from setup, to recording, mixing and mastering.

I have been a long time user of Sonar and more recently Reaper. After purchasing Reaper it very quickly became my go to DAW. In BIAB I export my BB projects to wav. Each project to its own folder. I set up the project in Reaper (time signature and tempos, then drag and drop the tracks from the folder into Reaper. Then I normalise all the tracks to -12db (once again one key stroke I set up). I have automated Reaper to set tracks to a colour depending on instrument and also icons for the track. I then play through the song and add part markers once again colour coded. I am then ready to chop, change and start the mix. Getting ready is under 5 mins. I like doing it this way for consistency.

My methods
Tony
