I am running the very latest version of Biab on Vista 64-bit SP2. I often see a crash when Biab is shutdown. Sometimes it becomes an infinite loop of crashes. Sometime not.

It is your typical Access violation kind of error.

Here are the details...

First dialog that pops up on exit:

Access violation at address 05302060. Write address 0015B1EC at: 05302060

Then 0015BFBC
Then 0015CD8C
Then 0015DB5C

Second dialog pops up over the top of first:

External exception C000001D at: 05302098

As you dismiss these the sequence just repeats and the only way to stop it is to end the process manually in the process manager.

Anyone else seeing this? Is there anything I can do to help track down what the problem is?

I used to get something similar. I then re-installed BIAB but, in in re-installing, I right-clicked and chose "Run as Administrator". That seemed to fix the problem. (Note: I did not re-install RealTracks - just BIAB/RB) The other option worth trying is to disable the User Account Control feature in Vista. I'm not totally sure, but I suspect that these violations result from Vista's seeking permission for a file to be written to disk.

Regards,
Noel

I also disable the User Account Control feature in Vista in my laptop, otherwise not only BIAB but many others programs with disk write related activity are blocked. Sometimes Zone Security Suite, my laptop antivirus, need to be disabled for let BIAB to run flawless, I don´t know why really, I have to check program and components list on it.

Disabling the UAC is the first thing I'd try.

Hi,

The UAC is a nonsense and for me it caused nothing but problems

Switch it off and also make sure you have a regular disk clean and defrag to speed up actions

I periodically get that on my Vista 32. It seems I only get the problem is when I using my external synth plugged in via USB. When I use the dxi/VSC, I don't seem to get that problem. I gave up on trying to figure it out as it is merely a nuisance. If you use an external synth, maybe that is the common denominator. UAC has been off since day 1.

Yeah - it does not happen all the time. Just annoying when it does since it goes into an infinite loop and you have to manually kill it. Also - sometimes when it comes back up it seems to have reset everything back to factory defaults. I have tried installing a couple different ways and also running Biab as Administrator as well. Switching off UAC is not an option for me because I often have to hook the machine up to my company network and they do now allow machine to be on that with UAC disabled.

Thanks for the info - maybe the Biab developers can use the info to figure this one out. I figured it would not hurt to post it.
