Hey all, as per instructed on another thread, I will start over in a new thread.

I have Sonar 8.5PE Windows running on my computer and I'm using E-MU 1212m soundcard. I use the TTS-1 soft synth fine in Sonar. I would like to use it in BIAB because it is 64 bit and my new OS is 64 bit.

When I go into the MIDI/Audio Drivers Setup I have selected:

Midi input = EDSP Midi Port
Synth/Soundcard = Edirol TTS-1
Use VST/DXI = Checked

When I open the VST/DXI Syth Setting box the TTS-1 does not show up in the list.

Maybe I'm telling BIAB to look in the wrong place for the synth? I tried to select the TTS-1 but it gives me this error:

"c:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared DXI\TTS-1\TTS-1.dll is not a valid VST plugin!"

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

Synth/Soundcard = Edirol TTS-1

?

Where in BIAB exactly do you see that?

Under OPTIONS, MIDI/Audio Drivers Setup

Right hand side of window says Synthesizer/Sound Card

Below that is a drop down menu with Edrol TTS-1 selected

Where it says, "Symthesizer / Sound Card" only selects any already available Patch Maps so that your patch selections will match your chosen synth. That part has nothing to do with actually choosing or driving the MIDI synth.

The "Use DXi" button is where you select any available DXi synths. If you hit that button, or if it is alreadty hit, you then hit the DXi Syntgh Settings button to bring up the synth window, the top dropdown under the "Synth Track" tab should list all available DXi synths. If you don't find it there, I'm at a loss as to what's going on.

That's what I did. I loaded the trial version of ForteDXI to try but really like the TTS better also don't want to spend money on a synth for just getting an idea down. When I pull up the VST/DirectX Instrument plugings is shows ForteDXI and that works but, I can't get it to even add a new DXI.

Any other ideas?

Thanks!

By "can't get it to add" you mean you've tried the registration option? With the .dll file type chosen? And the TTS-1 works properly from within Sonar? If so, I'm also at a loss. If not, Try: Click options. Click on "register a new DXi plugin" and make sure the file type at bottom is dll. Browse to that Cakewalk folder where the tts-1.dll is and register it.

CAUTION: This *might* screw up the operation of the tts-1 in Sonar. Mine works in both Sonar 7 and BB latest build, WinXP, so I know it's possible to have it properly registered for each. I just don't remember whether I had to jump through hoops. There are registration and unregistration options, so you can futz with it if necessary. You should first confirm it works properly in Sonar before registering from within BB, and again after doing so. Of course, if you never actually scanned/registered it properly within Sonar, that's the first thing to do and see if that makes re-registration unnecessary.

Good luck, Ron

EDIT - Ah, you did say the TTS-1 works fine in Sonar. So I think it's just a matter of separately registering it in BB. Post back if it works.

Well, it works great in Sonar but, it will not register in BIAB. When I try to register it says:

"%1 is not a valid Win32 application: C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared DXi\TTS-1\TTS-1.dll at : 008D4143

Maybe it will not work in BIAB with the newest Sonar 64 bit?

I do believe the key word here is Win32. I take that to mean Window 32 bit. It sounds like you are trying to place a 64 bit TTS-1 into an application that only excepts 32 bit ones.

So you have a 32 bit TTS-1 dll?

I arrived early to a restaurant.
The manager asks, "do you mind waiting a bit?"
I said no.
"Good", he said. "Take these drinks to table 3"

Yes, this is the thread I posted to but someone suggested I start a new thread for my question.

If anyone can get these to work, I should be able to also. I'm running the same version of TTS-1 and the most current BIAB and Sonar. Will try to find the other dll file.

Thanks

IT WORKED!

I went to my old computer and copied the TTS-1.dll from the Sonar 7 shared DXi plug-ins and it told BIAB to look at the new dll in the PGMusic folder. It took it and seems to work fine.

Thanks everyone!
