Just a thought, but it occurs to me that you could two sets of changes programmed as shots, one with chords 2, 4, 6 and 8 of each bar which once generated, get moved to a convenient empty channel, (say the soloist).

Then you offset the playback of that channel that by anything from 50 to 60 ticks behind, before generating chords 1,3,5,7 on the piano channel. The amount of ticks depends on the feel you want, syncopated or straight.

Hard work, counter-intuitive and bothersome?.. sure it is...Sometimes it works ok sometimes it just sounds ...what it is ...which is 'computerised'. But it could be ok for some sparing use.

Will need to do for now, but here's hoping it wont be long before 8 chords that actually sound as eighths are supported.

Regards

Alan

I've done something like that by simply recording MIDI keyboard playing to the Soloist and/or Melody track, being careful to play the same MIDI instruments and style that the current Style file uses. Examining the notation for the chosen style on each instrument plus a bit of practice is a good idea. I find that by playing them in realtime to a click, they can be made to sound as realistic as possible. Slowing down the BPM for doing the recording sometimes is a big help. Then turn it back up when done.

Hi Alan,

Yes there are some situations whereby more chords are required

For these situation I have found that the BIAB compatible Expanded styles from Bob Notes Norton are very useful

Yeah Mac that sounds like you've a better way round the problem.

For me its not about 8 chords per bar so much as getting a few home grown riffs going with the shots and holds used in the piano comping.

Seems to me that the midi drum shots and holds would benefit too from 8 beat per bar resolution in the same way, allowing you to program some convincing extra snare accents to coincide wit the tune.

Regards

Alan
