My renewed interest in Bluegrass resulted in a remix of this tune that I posted some time ago. I thought some of you might enjoy hearing the hopefully final version.

I also would be interested to know what style you used?

Excellent vox, harmony and lead guitar. Do I hear a live mandolin at times, or is that from the RealTracks?

It must be good, because my wife hollered in from the other room and said, "Pretty good." Consider yourself complimented.

Very good Toucher!

I heard this one again last week and was thinking of adding it to my spiritual book as well. I only hope mine comes out nearly as good as your rendition.

I had to listen again, I was assuming is was 100% midi and that no RT's were used in the backing track here. Maybe the bass? Singing still sounds good.

Wow, thanks for the feedback, but now after all the compliments, I have to remember how I did it. It started out as a .SGU file. The original style was c~HNKSR1 - CL Country Ballad. From there it went to RB and I kept the same style, but generated realtracks individually based on the _BG_BDGS style. I did the vocals, lead accoustic guitar, and ran the harmonies thru the tc.

The banjo is part realtrack, and part midi, mandolin and rhythm guitar are midi, the bass was midi, coverted to audio, then some effects applied.

I used some of the classic plugins for mastering, and a lot of tweaking here and there most of which I've tried to forget. Glad you all liked it and took the time to respond. Thanks

Be careful, there is a point where the Law of Diminishing Returns kicks in hard here.

Great work, toucher.

I really like how you've structured the arrangement in this work. It's skilfully thought through and gives the song a very engaging emotional shape. The only thing I noticed was the picking banjo (midi) overrode the vocals every now and then - especially when it was picking in the extreme upper register. That could be my system but I'm passing the info on for what it's worth. Overall, though, you won me with this one.

Regards,
Noel

Hi Toucher, I have been away for a while and just got back.
I really like your Bluegrass Gospel.
Could I offer a thought on the song If you could make the banjo just hint at being heard I think it would be better.

Best regards
Michee

Thanks for the latest feedback, must be my high freq hearing loss, my wife said basically the same thing about the banjo. Sometmes I think it's a matter of ears and speakers and whatever system it's being played on. In my car, which is very bass heavy, can hardly hear the banjo. I haven't quite figured out how to mix so that it plays equally well on every type of system, from automobiles and ipod ear buds to home theatre systems, if it can even be done.

My commercial CDs sound totaly different in my monitors than they do in the car, so I use them for a reference point and try to emulate the difference.

I have noticed that a couple of banjo players that have heard it, love it, and the guitar guys think there's too much banjo, heheheh. Kinda like cowbell I guess, although can you really ever have enough cowbell?

Thanks again for the feedback
