Hi,
I'm new to Sibelius and I have Sibelius 6.
I often play melodies on my guitar while a backing track is running on Band in a Box. It's the way I often write melodies. I then stop Band in a box and notate the melody in Sibelius.
The problem is Band in a box isn't working properly while Sibelius is running. Not sure if it's taking over the Sound Engine of Band in a box or taking over the clock or maybe something else. Regardless, it's not working.
Any suggestions would sure be appreciated.

What Audio Drivers are you trying to use in Band in a Box?
If you are currently using ASIO there, for instance, try switching to MME.
Also, make sure that both programs are not trying to share the same MIDI software synth at the same time...

Mac,
I changed the Audio driver from ASIO to MME as you recommended.
Problem solved.
