Peter, So many of us have complained over the years about not having separate outputs for MIDI tracks in Band In A Box, and then a lot of that went away with the advent of Real Tracks, but this one just takes the cake!
I love this feature. It allows me to get a song up and running, and into Sonar so much faster. Plus, I can also drag and drop MIDI tracks in, as well. So, even if I'm not putting audio in, I still can get the MIDI tracks to Sonar, and then output them to the devices I want to use.
This is just awesome, thank you so much for this.
Gary

I call it the 'caveman' feature. LOL. The next step was learning which end to drag.

In order to be dragged, one must allow it to happen to them.

Patrik,
At this time there still is no Rewire capability, but it's always good to pop over to the Wishlist forum and suggest it again.

I don't think he was asking about full Rewire capability, but rather, whether it would work in plug in mode.

Ryszard from a software engineering standpoint i would be very surprised if pg devs would want to do a complete plug in version. there prolly are major software engineering issues that would need to be overcome.
there is also the underlying aspect of pc hardware architectre to consider. cos not everyone has powerfull pc's. also one needs to consider disk drive technology as it stands today. in theory it all sounds nice... but the devils in the details from a systems assurance aspect. some people have trouble on their systems running sometimes simple plug ins. running auto accompany as a plug in is much more complex. for example what if someone has a crummy slow old disk drive with slow seek times and/or limited real memory. for example. man..drag that old celeron with the clunky drive outta the closet n lets rock out..lol. )ps..and yes i know jammer offers a plug in... but not with real traks going full tilt. different story useing all midi versus real audio session traks.)
retired puter engr....powertracks on amd......NICE ! "what is the black art of audio engineering ?" my silly songs...motagator.com/bmanning see my tips in the tips section.

Exactly. If this have anything with VST to do I suppose Record is not supported in plug in mode.

Patrik, "Plug In" mode is actually a misnomer. It isn't a plug in at all. At least not that I've noticed.
What you can do, however, is take the smaller window BIAB now resides in, and go the part you want, i.e., drums, bass, guitar, piano, strings, melody, etc., and then drag that part to an audio track, or a MIDI track, in your DAW. Since I don't really know anything about Record, I can't answer specifically to that, but what this really is, more than anything else, is a novel application of 'Drag and Drop.'
If Record supports Drag and Drop, then I would suspect that it will support this, as well.

Let me try that tomorrow, and I'll get back to you, okay? By the way, I'm using Sonar and not Real Band. With RB, you should be able to save the song in BIAB, and then open it natively in RB, so you don't have to drag anything

There may be a bug concerning use of the Solo Track and D&D.
Reports are coming in.
Meanwhile, if you have another free track available, you could try co;ying the Soloist to that track or regenerating it on that free track, then save song with a slightly changed filename so you keep the original archived and then see if the D&D will work for that track.

Thanks Mac. Tried that, did not work. I tried to copy and move the Realtrack Solo Track to the Melody Track but that does not work. Only midi solo's gets moved or copied. RT solos stick to Soloist track.
It seems that I will have to Freeze and find the Solo WAV and import that file into RB chorus by chorus, pity.
I want to generate a solo pedal fill in a couple of bars with Rt solo's but if you generate the 2nd chorus fill the whole solo gets overwritten. I thought it will now be cool to generate the fill for say chorus 1, drag it a track in RB , generate the 2nd chorus fill, drag that to a second Solo track in RB etc. (With Midi solo's each chorus just got added until the song's fills are complete but not so with RT - not complaining, can understand why - until PG finds a way to merge the second RT fill into the solo track).
I will now have to revery to my old system of creating and copying the RT solos bit by bit.
I will monitor the patches to see if they fix the solo's, melody dragging ....

Gary, Question? Once you've moved your Realtracks over into Sonar, what type of file do you save it as? I noticed that I saved mine as a bundle and when I tried to re-open the file after having closed it all I got was an error.
Is there a specific file type you "save it as" so that it opens up correctly next time around?
Thanks!

I save mine as a normal project file within Sonar and it opens up fine.

Just a simple File Safe in Sonar will do and as Keebo mentioned, it saves as a Sonar project file.

I don't get it. RB will create everything Biab will except the midi soloists and a few other things so who cares if you can't D&D that RT solo? For me I mostly use RB to create something from scratch anyway. It uses the same chord grid so if I'm going to create something new I might as well start it in RB. If think I want a midi solo I'll start with Biab. Just open the song in RB, that will include the chord grid and right click any empty track below the Biab ones and create your RT solo. You can highlight a range of bars first if you want and RB will only generate that range. I'll usually create 3 or 4 solo tracks and then mix and match the parts. RB is a much better audio editor than Biab plus it has 48 tracks.
