I've created some cool backtracks in BB2009.5 and would like to record my vocals using RB 2009.5. I'm thinking of buying a USB vocal interface (for quality?) Emu 0404 or Steinberg C12 etc. Would this work in RB 2009.5 or maybe 2010?

The E-MU 0404 USB 2.0 is not a "vocal processor" -- it is a higher quality soundcard than the one built into your computer.
Ease of use with PGMusic products and the E-MUY can be an "iffy" thing, though, depending upon things like your chosen OS as well as the hardware in the computer itself, although it "generally" works.
Check out the M-Audio Fast Track Pro USB for a USB audio device that I know to work and play well with Windows and PGMusic products. Good, solid driver support for one reason.

Mac The Fastrack usb pro states that it is indeed USB . But the Fastrack Ultra/8R states USB 2? Im concerned that the USB pro is USB 1? Would you know? Regards Greg

Hi Greg, I have found that a good rule of thumb with all of these USB audio stuff is if it does not say it is USB 2.0 then you can assume it is the USB 1.0 standard. The Fastrack Pro is USB 1.0. Brian

Apparently -- and I have good empirical evidence to show this, I don't own one but I have a good friend who does and uses it almost daily with PGMusic products -- the Fast Track Pro is capable of doing its job via USB 1 port.
Of course, if you want the 2.0, you can take it up a notch and get the Ultra, not only USB 2.0 but some other high bandwidth features.
It isn't US 1 that is the bottleneck problem for many single channel input audio devices, I think, it is really the drivers and how they are implemented. M-Audio puts out excellent drivers for the most part, with good support. All the difference in the world.

Hi Greg I use the Fast Track Pro (USB1.1) daily without problems - it has not been switched off for about 3 years now - very low latency as well. It works very well with PG's products (and others). I record vocals and guitar etc and it is rock solid stable (must also be the drivers as Mac indicates and M-Audio are on the ball and update when needed). The Ultra looks good but do you need so many inputs/outputs? - personal choice. Roy, Pretoria, SA

Thanx Roy I can get a new one for R1 990. Is that a good price? Also I have just purchased BIAB 2010. Should work well? Greg

That sounds like a good price. Give TOMS in Braamfontein a call to compare (they are the SA agents). You must just download the correct drivers for your operating system from M-audio. Each operating system has it's own driver eg the driver for Win XP SP2 differs from Win XP SP3 - the Vista and and now WIN 7 drivers are also available.
By the way I have added a Behringer mini Headphone Amp to split and amplify the headphone signal - if you record a second person (vocals/harmonies). Its inexpensive, small and very handy Enjoy, Roy
