Although I can not speak for PG Music, I think plans for a 64 bit version of BIAB would most likely be premature at this time. There are still too many users who are using a 32 bit OS, and to run a concurrent 32 bit and 64 bit development may not be possible at this time.
Also, since BIAB is primarily a MIDI application, even with Real Tracks, what gains would be had by moving to a 64 bit environment? And, do those gains justify the cost and time of porting to a 64 bit OS?

WQithout meaning offence I disagree. BIAB is a bit behind the times already - though it does have some innovative features. The interface is quite dated and odd in many ways. There are many that are already using 64 bit esp as it gives access to more RAM when using VSTS. Most serious sequencer users are either already working in 64 bit or heading that way this year.

Zero, Since BIAB can only use one VSTi at one time, then RAM is not really a limiting factor. Furthermore, if you are running a 32 bit application like BIAB in a 64 bit environment, you still should have full use of all available RAM.
The interface has nothing to do with 32 bit or 64, and that discussion has been done to death over the years.
Finally, BIAB isn't really a sequencer. Real Band, yes, or even Power Tracks Pro Audio, but for those who are looking for 64 bit stuff, they'll be going to Sonar, or some of the others. By the way, I have Vista 64 Ultimate, and Sonar 7, and I can't use Sonar in 64 bit mode because of lack of driver support for 64 bit on my sound cards. That is the limitation there, so I'm running it in 32 bit.

I’m sure that some, and I emphasize some, who read the lead post will no doubt get the idea that B&B and RB will not play on a 64bit computer. Be assured that they both run on my Vista Home Premium (HP) 64 bit and a Windows 7 (HP) 64 bit computers along with Sonar 8 (64bit) for track transfers without any problems.

ZeroZero just out of curiosity... why are you so concerned bout 64 bit win ?? i'm still on win xp and happily doing lots of songs every year. i understand the main issue with 64bit is the availability of sound device drivers. ie will the sound device work.

OK so I started something...;)
Why am I concerned that BIAB is 64 bit? Everything else on my machine is 64 bit now.
Yes I know it does not support other VSTs.... but I wish it did, I am hoping that the next generation BIAB features the ability to use custom Vsts within the application. I have to use two sound drivers to play my piano with BIAB, it would be good to play other instruments, such as favorite pianos, organs etc) inside BIAB. I have full orchestras here I can't use within BIAB at least without ease. I would like to use all my synths which are all 64 bit now at least on my machine.
Dont get me wrong BIAB has a lot going for it too... the real track thing is an outstanding piece of kit. I have been around long enough to know how difficult this must have been to achieve.
Most new sound cards have drivers for WIn 7, and some of the older classic sound cards.
if you check forums like Cubase you will find that the WIn7 64 thing is deeply loved.
I love BIAB its an outstating piece of software now, but it does have its foibles, in places its quite 'odd'.It feels like a midi accompaniment player that has outgrown its own socks, which it has, and that is a good thing, in fact it is now far superior to this, but the design needs a rethink (thats not me being negative - I love the thing).
Garry, my understanding is that if you are running 32 bit in 64 you only get max of 2 gig for VST with some notable exceptions which have been recoded from scratch.
Working in 64 is like opening the windows in your studio, no more coughing and splutterng, no more straining - the memory is there for whatever you need. Surely this is a design asset for next generation BIAB?
Anyways I think a 64 bir version must on its way... somewhere in the vault of secrets. It would be a great pity if BIAB went the same way as Giga.
I am not arguing that this is not a superb bit of kit - no question it is.
Oh BTW yes I have it working in a 64 bit environment here
This is all just my opinion of course..... but 64 bit also the future

ZeroZero re 64 bit. yes i figured you (and zillions of other musicians includeing myself) are excited by the large mass memory aspect viz orchestras n sample libs etc etc. (as an aside i once worked yonks back on a bit of OS stuff.) but personally i'm staying behind the curve a bit. yes many are rushing out device drivers for the new environment. but even assuming well done low latency device drivers. there are other considerations. one being the underlying hardware pc architecture itself. for many musicians it will mean often a new pc with particularly excellent processor and memory and drive performance.
i personally am waiting for another round of development in the pc architecture itself. which is what i feel is needed to do things right. its still early days i feel. particularly when i hear stories of certain sample libs that can bring a system to its knees. in summary i feel nirvana is coming..and the trend is obvious. but its gonna be costly for many musicians who often cant afford it.
i note you have 64 bit synths. i look at biab conceptually as roughing out the song idea. trying out different approaches etc n roughing out bed traks etc etc. nothing to stop you dropping the biab traks into a appropriate daw n loading up your 64 bit synths. a question...what is your system ?? an i7 ?? older ??

My system is a core i7 920 with 12 gig of RAM an Asus 6PT mB though I would also recommend gigabyte. It has run everything I have thrown at it since I made it. For the first time since buying Cubase 3.7 around 14 years ago everything actually works. I feel very happy with everything, including Win 7 which has never crashed on me at all. I ran Win RC for some months and this was also stable. As for sample libraries 'bringing system to its knees', well with a little help from Jbridge My system runs EW platinum, some VSL, Kontakt, Halion, Absynth, Omnisphere, RMX, Trillian, TruePianos, EW choirs, and a lot more besides with no glitches. I have not tried dropping tracks in Cubase 5.1.1 been having too much fun with BIAB. My view is that you dont have to wait for more architecture its all working real fine. I think this view is shared on other forums. Sell your wife Its worth it. best Zero

I would love to go 64bit for all of it's advantages, but M-Audio has stated that it is not going to update the Delta series of cards drivers to full 64bit compatibility, thus leaving us owners out in the cold. Yes I understand that they are older cards, but when I have 8 channels of inputs that work totally fine here, and all I can get out of any 64bit system is 2 at a time with the latest drivers, I will stay 32bit Thank You. BB2010 is running great here, so for me it is 32bit all the way...for now.

I don't understand it either, since the M-Audio Drivers page on their website lists dedicated drivers for both Vista 64 and Win7 64 bit.
M-Audio has proven to me to be very good on the driver side of life over the years, often publishing drivers for new OS releases on the day that the OS is officially released, and sometimes before.
They have also been rather good at updating those drivers if there are any problems reported that require an update.

ZeroZero well with an i7 and all that ram i'm not surprised. sadly many musicians cant afford such a set up. cos if one adds in also the cost of sophisticated sample libs set ups such as yours can become very very expensive. ive heard some of the sample libs. yes extremely nice. but some of them can run into several thousand dollars alone i understand. fine for a studio with a good cash flow. but outside the budget of a lot of small//project studios.
fyi i once owned a nice studio. but it all got too much to maintain and worry about. ive also seen over the years lots of hot trends come and go. so i'm a tad cautious as a result of being in the past an early adopter that got some arrows in my back. lol.
myself..i'm holding back waiting for i7 prices to drop hopefully.

I have an XP machine running BIAB, and a separate partition with W7 64 bit Ultimate. Just installed BIAB to the W7 64 bit partition and it is running fine (Sound Card is a RME HDSP9632)
I thought BIAB isn't meant to run on W7 64 bit??

Nope, just went there and they are the same Vista X64 drivers as before. These do not work with my 2 Delta66 cards & the OMNI boxes, they will only allow 2 channel stereo recording per card. The forum suggest to keep the older, earlier .inf files & use those, but I had no luck.:( Also, I apologize for the confusion. When I made the statement that they "left us out in the cold", I was referring to XP64......my mistake.

BB runs fine on 64 bit Windows, including Vista 64 and Windows 7/64.
Most applications on 64 bit Windows are 32 bit apps, including MS Office. (there isn't a shipping version of 64 bit MS Office yet, though one is in development).
We will make a 64 bit version, not in the near-term though.
Have Fun! Peter Gannon PG Music Inc.

And I am sure when the day comes, the installer will prompt you whether you want to install the 32 or 64 bit version of BIAB/RB.
Looking forward to it.

Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!
Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.
Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.
