When I import or open a video there is no audio even though it shows in track view. I also get an exception error message sometimes when loading a video. Are some formats better than others to use in powertracks?" I tried converting to a wmv file and that immeadiatly gets an application error message. I am using powertracks 2021 64 bit on windows 10

If audio shows in the track view, do the VU meters there show any activity when it plays?
If so it may be a Port issue, but if not, that would be a bigger problem.
If you can 'see' the audio but there is no VU activity, the basics would be to make sure the volume for that track is up, and make sure it is not getting muted by the track or an Event in the Event List.

No activity in VU meters. Track is not muted volume is up. error message comes up a few seconds after I hit play on the video. In the menu The port is Speakers (sound blaster audigy5 RX - which is correct.

His Windows 10 should have a codec for MP4, although there are many different MP4 codecs, and the codec will only be present if he has Windows Media Player installed. Panworks - do you have Windows Media Player? If not, please install it by following this page: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/get-windows-media-player-81718e0d-cfce-25b1-aee3-94596b658287If that doesn't help, what codecs are the MP4 file using, and how many audio/video streams are in the file? MP4 is technically just a container format, so there are many different video/audio codecs it could be using, some of which may not be built in.

where do I find info on what codecs my MP4 is using? the videos play fine on windows media player. It is just on Powertracks that the sound does not play and the error message comes up.

If it plays fine on WMP then you have the codec installed, it was just a guess by me
Not sure how to tell what codec is used, I *think whatever is available for the system would be used.
You may be able to find some more info by right-clicking the file, going to Properties, then the Details tab. Hopefully you can see the number of audio treacks and bitrate there.
