I am looking at either buying the Edirol or ketron to be used playing live. I plan to use Windows media PLayer to play the midi files into the Edirol or ketron, which would then plug into the PA system. Has anyone used both systems and have positive and/or negative feedback?

Thanks in advance,

Patrick

Both sound great, I have both, but I think that the Ketron SD-2 has the edge most of the time. Especially on the guitars.

MIDI is a subjective thing, though, and if you can, I recommend auditioning. If you can't, I recommend the SD-2. The Edirol is also a bit longer in the tooth, meaning that the sounds sampled are of a certain "era" as MIDI synths go.

If you get the SD2 and don't like it I'll swap you for my SD20

Thanks for the advice Mac. I will get the sound that I am looking for from the SD2. I want the midi backing tracks to sound as real as possible. My instruments are tenor sax, akai ewi4000S( with the patchman chip) and yamaha vl70-m with the patchman upgrade. Music is everything from old classics to pop rock, with everything in between.

Depending on where you live you can order from PG music and get next day delivery. I live in Eastern Canada and it amazes me, if they have it in stock. Probably don't ship Sunday though.
