I read that BiaB 2010 can be used as a plugin in most third party DAWs. As my HDD is yet to arrive, I wonder how that's going to be.
When I'm creating/producing a song (using BiaB tracks and self-played tracks) in Cubase, can I have BiaB generate say a melody for an amount of bars while working in Cubase? That would be fantastic...
Or am I completely wrong here?
Are there any members that use 2010 as a plugin yet?

You could do that using the DAW "plugin" mode.
I find that RB is a bit better for use like that, with its ability to let you highlight a certain number of bars and only generate or regenerate that highlighted section.
RB has the DAW Drag 'n Drop feature as well.

All would be bliss ..... except.... drag'n'drop does not work with Cubase or Nuendo. You can drag to the desktop or a folder and then drag from there to Cubase - but not as one step.

Well, that wouldn't prevent me from getting a lot of work done, it is just one more intermediary step and with Windows, you can keep a folder open and bop back and forth rather quickly enough.
At least it works.

OK, tried dragging and dropping in Cubase 5: no go. Not with RealTracks, Frozen RealTracks and not with MIDI-tracks. I also tried the same in PowerTracks 12, with the same results....it didn't work  I tried dragging and dropping wav-files and mp3-files from a folder directly into Cubase, and that works fine (I usually use the import option) For the time being I'll return to my old workflow: Create the structure of the song in BiaB, produce and record in Cubase, and get back to regenerate any track in BiaB if needed.

If you D&D to an Explorer window, you can then D&D from there into Cubase.
At least, that's what several different Cubase users have reported.
Not that big of a kill, just one more intermediate step, and it still sounds faster in workflow than the older alternatives, give that a shot.

Mac, That is kind of like my "old" way of doing it. I rendered the RealTrack I wanted to a single wav-file and imported that in Cubase. Now Instead of rendering, I can use drag&drop. Oh, well. Gotto have something to look forward to when BiaB 2011 comes
