I have a big gig coming up and would like to use a mix of midi files and mp3s that I have.
I find at times mp3s are louder than the midi tracks and at times visa versa. Is there a way to level the sounds of these in one shot. A program etc. I plan to run them through power tracks jukebox.

IF you are using a DXi synth for the MIDI output, you could try applying the pgdynamics plugin via the AUX Effects bus in the PT or RB mixer, using it as a Master Compressor to level the output.

Not the greatest solution but may solve the "do it in one shot" parameter.

This is a bit 'old school' but I have, some time ago, put silence between pieces and the notes say Vol Slider 6, or 9 etc.

Okay Mac. Sounds good but I couldn't find the pgdynamics plugin. Where do I find it? I looked in all my plugin list but didn't see it. Also if I set it once I do find it will it stay the same for each song that is loaded?

Ed, how are you going to be playing the files? What software will you be using?

He said, "powertracks jukebox" in his first post.

The PGDynamics plugin is found in the list when you hit the DX toolbar button.

You must have RealTime effects enabled in your Audio Prefs, too, in order to use it.

This is not a good way to do it, Ed. But it *might* work, since you wanted a "batch" or global way to do this.

What you really need to do is go back through your files and normalize them by adjusting volumes up on some and down on others until they are all alike.

The first thing you should do is open your soundcard's Playback mixer and turn all faders and the master fader if present, up all the way. And leave them like that. This is one of the biggest problems for folks to understand. Those darn faders get set all over the place and then they readjust the internal faders of the music program to suit what they are hearing at the time -- and there ain't no place to stand as to what is what.

Yes, perfect Mac. I had already turned my faders up. I figured I would have to go through them and adjust the levels, that's what I'm doing tonight. What I'm doing is figuring out the correct level and then adjusting the mixer moves on record. I think that's what you were saying.
