Below are the lyrics:

“The Man At The Metro” (by Allan Judd)

See the man at the metro, Lord he really loves to sing.
Keeping time with a change cup from the coins that people bring.
He sings about Jesus. He sings about life.
He sings about lonely days and lonely nights.
He sings about fortunes he’s never had.
He sings about loved one’s who treated him bad.

See the man at the metro trying to shake off the cold.
In the clothes of a poor man with a heart as pure as gold.
He sings to remember. He sings to forget.
He sings for his supper or a cigarette.
He sings with a message to convey.
Lord knows, he’s got something to say.

About the plight, about the fight
About the rights of the homeless people
About the needs in the streets
And how they’re filled of the lonely people

See the man at the metro, he’s just dying to survive
On a little compassion and a load of sacrifice.
He’s there in the morning. He’s there at night.
He can’t afford to wait for the mood to strike.
He’s so in touch with reality much more than we will ever be.

See the man at the metro, Lord he really loves to sing.
See the man at the metro, Lord he really loves to sing.

Morning Mr. Judd,
You've posted five songs but haven't commented, reviewed, dropped in to say hello on the works of others.
You're also "flooding" which pushes other more patient and interactive folk off page one which means they may not get their stuff listened to as it's not "visible"
It's time to slow down and become part of the community.

Cheers

Cool, there's a clear set of rules and expectations, from PG Music, at the top of the 1st page if you care to double check.

Yes, however, I think the rule I've listed below causes some confusion for new users, and perhaps should be amended.

>>Start a new thread with each new song post - don't add new songs to an existing thread. The exception to this is if you are posting a lot of songs in a short period of time (compared to others), please post them in a single thread.<<

I can see how a new person would read that and think it's okay to post "a lot of songs in a short period of time." In fact, it IS saying it's okay.

Tunemonger,
That may cause confusion for someone not actually paying attention if it were actually read, which I doubt. I have more faith in people's comprehension skills. The exception as described would seem clear enough though may cause a problem if more than one carpet bomber was present at a time. We're now breaking another rule by redirecting the theme of a thread.

Well, then, getting back on the subject of the track itself:

I thought it was quite good, i enjoyed it. The imagery of street musicians is a fond one for me. The lyrics were very good, if you can, print them out with the original post next time. The banjo coming in and out of the track was very effective. Vocals were a good fit. Nice work!

I am enjoying this as I type. I like the jangly guitars and the vocal harmonies (and I'm wondering what exactly is going on in that one harmonized passage.) This is colorful stuff.

Allan,

Good "folk" song.

Nice production. The effects on the vocal work well. The banjo is a nice addition.

Having the lyrics and the BIAB tracks is appreciated.

Tasty bit of guitar at the end. You don't have a RT soloist listed. Is that you playing?

Enjoyed the listen.

Hi, Alan.

Good write, good arrangement and singing.

My only nit - the synthetic harmonies were a bit of a contrast to all the other instruments, since everything else s got a very acoustic sound.

One option is to record a different vocal and throw that through the harmonizer instead of the primary vocal. That way it doesn't track as closely to the primary vocal and gets a bit of independence.

Nice work!

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Thanks much, Floyd. The soloist track for "Man At The Metro" is:

2691:Guitar, electric, soloist CountryBalladBrenSimple EV 085.

I wish I could improv that well.

Nice lyrics with touching imagery. Pleasant catchy melody. Banjo and strumming guitars work really well and give nice groovy rhythm. I enjoyed the guitar solo also. Very good vocals bring the story alive, everything is mixed well.
