So I went ahead and ordered myself a KETRON SD2 on Wednesday night, hoping I'll have it delivered the next day (i.e Friday, as they woudn't have been able to ship it until Thursday.) I called last night to get the UPS tracking number and the fellow there told me my order is on hold and couldn't tell me why. This morning I spoke with PG Music and they told me they have to do a financial background check before they can send it... Huh!!??

Apparently, she told me this is something they do for all first-time clients...

A) I am not a first time client... I've already bought BIAB 2008, 2009 and 2010...and
B) I paid with the same Credit Card I used for my BIAB 2010 USB Hard Drive...
C) Since when does anyone do a credit check on someone using a credit card for an online purchase??

Needless to say, nobody bothered to check. And now I won't be able to get my unit until NEXT Week -- probably Monday the earliest! So I am p****ed as I was looking forward to using it this weekend. What a Bummer!

All she could offer me was to waive the $15.00 shipping fee.

Anyways, I can't wait to get my hands on this gadget.

Too bad. I heard on CBC that some US based credit places, if the amount warrants, go through your facebook and twitter accounts. Geez. You would think credit card processing for registered members of the forum would be more straightforward but with people registering with names such as Bankruptnutbar I guess that's not an option.

Takes me back to an old axe I can grind, offer 2 levels, REGISTERED users with real names and a forum name, verified by a REGISTRATION number. I hate it when someone takes on a persona and plays Saturday Nite Live on the forum.

You'll love your Ketron, I got over it a bit and don't take it to bed anymore.

There is likely an outside company that handles the credit stuff. If they report something like that back, the vendor has no choice really.

It may be a fluke, but you may want to find out what's really going on there in case there is some sort of problem, such as reason to suspect ID theft or the like...

You are gonna like the Ketron SD-2, I predict.

I understand your frustration, but the wait is worth it. As to the credit card issue, I've never experienced that problem. Folks in the U.S. do have problems with financial stuff that are unwarranted though. FWIW

The 'credit card check' for first time buyers sounds more like 'there's a problem with your credit card, the company won't verify it, and we need to figure it out' from a newbie.

I would very seriously call your credit card issuer and make sure that there isn't anything wrong with your card. Then, I would e-mail Sales at PGMusic and ask them what this is all about, for real. If there was a problem with the credit card, please say so, and don't give me the run around, especially since you've used that credit card before.

I use my credit cards for online purchases on a regular basis, and because of that I always keep a close eye on my on-line Statement for any unauthorized use... It's the only way to catch things in a hurry. I've had some incidents a few years ago when I suddenly noticed a few purchase in the same day from Philladelphia, New York, Boston, Atlanta.... and I called the credit card company and they refunded the money and replaced the card number... they also asked me to sign a piece of paper that I was not the one who used it, and no more questions since.

Another time, I found a CD I wanted to buy from an online merchant which I noticed was in Russia somewhere... which made me very suspicious... so I called my credit card company and they put me through their Fraud Prevention department... who assured me to go ahead and use my card and not worry... the fellow told me, if they are a VISA accepting merchant, then it is VISA's problem if something goes wrong. He just suggested to make sure I called them ASAP if I notice anything unusual on my Statements.

So generally, I feel quite safe using my card on-line.

And the lady at PG Music just said it was an oversight on their part that they didn't realize I was an existing client. I believe that because another time, I called PG Music for some support and they couldn't find me on their system.. It took them a while to try different approaches (phone number, address, last name, etc.) until finally they found me.... Which I find very strange btw. Most modern databases will find you instantly... specially with a last name that starts with TCH... I am the only one usually LOL!

Anyway, like I said, can't wait to get this thing... Past posts from MAC, John and a few others gave me all the GAS I needed LOL!

And now, the 2010 Winter Olympics will be right next door to PG Music. And, a two hour drive for me. Not that I'm going, but....

I like this old one best:

Guy says to another guy: "Someone stole my wife's credit card."

The other guy : "Did you report it right away?"

Answer: "No maybe I won't, so far whoever it is isn't spending as much money as my wife did."

GRIN!

One of the nice things about not being married is that I don't have to ask HER if I can have it. I just have to have the money to get it, and hope I can still pay the bills.

I spent 6,000 on my 'new' setup since August.

4k on a Bose L1 Model 2
the Ketron although that was back a bit
A foot-controller
an Audix mic
a new keyboard stand

I bought a two column accounting folio.

Shows a 700 in gig 'fees' coming in since October.
I have about 450 more coming in for a Burns supper and St. Patrick's Day.

I predicted a 2 year payback, and this is, 'I HOPE', the setup for RV travel and fun.

I'm getting close to posting music, but we have a home renovation deadline of Jan 30, work paid for and materials are tax deductible as part of the 'stimulus' monies. And my grandson who's 9 months old keeps coming over and wants me to play the piano so he can dance which if very cute and not way I'm leaving the room even if I just watch him sleep, I'm a sentimental old fool now.

Go with the words of my old AF Squadron Commander:

"It is far easier to beg my forgiveness than to ask my permission!"

Of course, we were also known as the "Stealing-est outfit in the Air Force" for some odd reason. Entire aircraft were known to disappear around us...

After all that waiting, I hope you mean you are "now" in the process of installing, and not that you are "not" in the process of installing it.

I hope you enjoy the sounds of yours as much as I have been enjoying mine.

Oh yes of course. NOW I am in the process.... sorry.

I actually did install and had a chance to play a bit... As you know, I am going through my TASCAM US144MKII and I am having a bit of problems trying to balance the sound levels between Realtracks/Realdrums and the MIDI coming out of the ketron as I would need to play with the MON MIX knob to allocated the sound between "Input" (from Ketron) and remaining audio from the "Computer"... It's probably better when the song is all MIDI... eh?

And, sometimes I feel the sound from the VSC DXi was better, or maybe becasue I am used to it so far.

I have also tried to pass everything through the 1204FX Mixer so I can use the equalizer on the Ketron audio.... and have better control of the levels...

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!

And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
