Personally I thought England was the better team but France found a way to win. The missed penalty shot by Kane didn't help England and France played with less discipline on the field. No shame to England, this was a good game.

^^^ This exactly. France tried their darndest to lose. Really sloppy play. England did a really good job of controlling Mbappé. Kyle Walker gets a lot of credit for that. I was out picking up a pizza to eat during the match, when a slow-moving, horn-honking car drove past me on our main shopping street. Young woman driving. Her male companion standing in the passenger seat, upper body out of the window, waving a Moroccan flag. THAT was the match of the day. Holy smokes! Who picked Morocco over Portugal? Not me. Probably very few non-Moroccans.
So, now we play them on Wednesday in the semis. I hope Les Bleus play a better one than they did against The Three Lions.

C’est la vie ... as we say in both countries.

C’est la vie ... as we say in both countries. Yeah, Stirling's free kick caught net. Unfortunately for England, it was the top of the net. So close. And the Thumper is right, too. Way too many yellow cards. I remember a match between the U.S. and Germany in 2002 (?; age related brain fart possible on the date) in an elimination game. I was working in Bonn that month with Die Telekom (Deutsche Telekom (T-Mobile)). The VP leading the team I was consulting to had an office bigger than my living room here in France. Sofa. Easy chairs. Coffee table. The works. He had staff set up a TV and run a cable connection into his office so we could watch the match. Germany won 2-1, but all 6 Germans in the room admitted that the U.S. was the better team that day and that Germany was really lucky to win. I can say the same thing about the French win. I think England played a really solid match, and were unlucky not to come away with the victory.
