I searched the forum but couldn't find anything on this. surely I'm not the first person to have this problem? I created a song in BIAB and I made tempo changes at the choruses and then back to the base tempo during the verses. this is a non-repeating (unfolded) song. the style I picked is all MIDI.

then I open the song in RB and the RB creates a Real Drum track instead of using the MIDI drums that BIAB created. this happens automatically - I don't tell it to do this.

the tempo map has my tempo changes in it, but the real drums do not follow the tempo changes - they are created at the initial tempo throughout the song.

is this just the way it is or am I doing something wrong?

more info: I added a Real Track - acoustic 12 string guitar. it does the same thing - it will not follow the tempo map changes.

Once you make the tempo track changes did you regenerate the tracks?

Well, in a way, maybe you did.

If RealBand is set to Substitute RealDrums for the MIDI drums, you have to change that Preference setting inside Relaband before loading the BB song with MIDI drums in it...

Rob - all real drums and real tracks were generated after the tempo changes were already in place.

Mac - you're right. but that's not really my point and isn't really pertinent to my problem. The problem is actually the real tracks' ability to follow the tempo changes.

John - yes, but that's not really my point either.

My apologies, gentlemen. Apparently I didn't convey my problem well in my post. Allow me to try again.

The problem is that the Real Drums and Real Tracks are not following the tempo changes. For example:

In Real Band, I have a song that is currently all MIDI. The tempo map has the following information in it:
-1:01:000 70
21:01:000 72
33:01:000 70
41:01:000 72
49:01:000 70
57:01:000 73
71:01:000 70

I right click on an empty track header and choose SELECT AND GENERATE REAL DRUMS. I then choose NASHVILLE POP^16. RB then "renders the realdrums" and I have a track. I play the project. It works fine until I get to measure 21. At measure 21 the MIDI tracks obviously have started the faster tempo leaving the drums behind at the original tempo and cacophony is the result.

To further test this problem, I then MUTE the real drums and I select another empty track. I right click on it and choose SELECT AND GENERATE REAL TRACK. I then choose GUITAR, 12-STRING ACOUSTIC, STRUMMING EV 085
RB then renders the realtrack for that instrument.

with the REAL DRUMS MUTED so that I don't hear the tempo problems with the real drums, I now start the project from the beginning and play. Once again, when I get to measure 21 the acoustic guitar real track stays at the original tempo while the MIDI tracks follow the correct tempo changes.

So my problem and my question: are real drums and real tracks not able to follow the tempo changes and if not, why not? and if so, what am I doing wrong and how do I fix it?

That was very clear. Hmmm i wish i had time to explore this morning but am leaving for a funeral in an hour. Hopefully one of the gang will step in and give some direction.

They do follow the tempo map here. Always have. You can see my ACW video in tips section for verification.

Did you try right-clicking the blank track and 'select whole' before generating? That's a habit I have and may come into play as we figure this out.

Maybe if the From-Thru is set to 1-1-0 thru 1-1-0 it disregards the tempo map (?)
If so you may have found a bug. Or maybe there is an option somewhere we are missing.

I can't seem to get it to follow either. I'm using Build 1 though because I need the Juke Box & they broke it with Build 2. I've emailed etc and have had no response..

I agree. Seems to be a bug. Tried this with a couple of different standard midi files, subbed a couple of different realdrum types with tempo changes inserted beforehand. Tempos either did not change at all or changed at the wrong points in the track.

rharv - I had not tried that, but did try it per your suggestion and that did not seem to matter.

John - thanks for the confirmation, but it's disappointing. I am using build 2.

Terry - that's interesting, I haven't seen the tempo change at the wrong measure yet - mine apparently just seems to continue at the same tempo it starts at.

Please do. I already did, but it won't hurt to get a few eyes looking at this.

Maybe tomorrow I can get time to test if it happens previous to doing the +/- change over.
I know it worked in last version of 2010, and am pretty sure it worked in early 2011 testing. But I didn't do the 'erase +/-' until later, so I guess I should check and see if I can pinpoint when it happened. Might not be able to though, since some test versions will likely be time restricted.

More info: this is a Real band problem only. I can generate real drums and real tracks in BIAB and it follows the tempo changes correctly.

I used the same example above. I opened it with BIAB and generated the same real drums and the same acoustic 12 string in BIAB and it worked flawlessly.

I then saved the song from BIAB and opened it in RB. the acoustic guitar and real drum tracks were there, but they do NOT follow the tempo map in RB - they follow the original tempo ONLY.

I do not save the file, I open in BIAB again and it works perfectly.

so I have a work around - but it's not working like it's supposed to.

rharv - what do you mean by "doing the +/- change over?" or "erase +/-"?

In 2011, did you go into prefs - Realtracks and click the 'erase un-needed +/- files'button yet?

If not, no need for me to test any further.

Thanks

Nope

Just asking. John and I have done it already, so if you have not done it; it is not the problem.

Erasing the +/- files removes some realtracks and lets the new Elastique stretching feature make up the difference. There are a few threads on this already. It saves quite a bit of drive space, and sounds just as good, but older systems may struggle with it. Don't want to hijack this thread, so here's a link on it-
