As I am using BIAB 2011 313, I am finding a few issues here and there. I am not "researching and documenting" the actual failure steps yet, but I will at some point. For now, I am just mentioning a few to see if anyone else has run into the same things. As some point in time, I will create the SGU/MGU's that exhibit these issues and send them to PGM. Sorry if I am vague, but I am getting ready for RPM and if I run into issues now, I just work around them.
1.) Assigning realtracks to the same track. I had one instance where I used one of the brent mason RT's on the melody track and then switched to a fiddle or pedal steel later on. I mute the melody until the first instrument kicks in at bar xx and unmute the melody. I have found that the mason guitar track starts way early (like 12 bars before -- it should be muted) and then parts where it should be playing are muted (ha, ha).
2.) When the program starts up, I select a SGU file (maybe too quickly) and then the screen does it's "reset" thing and the song disappears and the normal starting blank song appears.
3.) 313 seems "flakier" to me than the original 2011. I noticed some grey squares at the top of the screen (as if the screen paints incorrectly), but then that clears up.
Anyone else seen any of these behaviors? Feel free to post any undocumented quirkiness that you have run into here and then we can document more clearly later.
Kevin

Number 2 has been discusaws here, yes, it seems like BB is taking a longer time to load and get started.
I've noticed that it takes the longest time here the first startup after a reboot. After that, when restarting BB in the same boot session it takes less time.
But you have to be careful and remember not to just start in clicking things when you see the first BB screen. Wait for it to flash to the second one and things settle down.

About #2, I'm not sure whether it's the delay in starting that Mac described, or the clearing of the selected song that you are asking about. That 'song clearing' problem has also been discussed under the topic of double-clicking on a song to start BIAB. Someone from PG Music (Andrew?) posted a solution. I'll see if I can find it. Also, what do you have selected in the pulldown on Opt., Preferences, On Program Startup?
About #1, I haven't used this feature enough to comment. #3 I have not seen, but for all of these, I would do a Opt., Return to Factory Settings just for good measure.

4.) load the demo song for _ACFIDGS.STY (Slow Country/Folk (085 RS)). Try and erase the "Piano" track (365:Guitar, Acoustic, Fingerpicking Ev 085) via right click on piano and choose Erase track -- just doesn't do it.

Confirmed here. You can substitue another RT, but you can't erase the original or replace it with "none" from the RT picker. Probably because the RT is defined in the style. One workaround is to disable RTs for that part in the RT picker, and hit play again. Maybe it's by design that the style forces the RT (unless you've chosen a substitute).
If the suggestion is that we oughta be able to override a style's RT assignment with a clearance as simply as we can override with a substitute RT, I agree!

5.) Trying to swap out a real track piano part with a midi piano.
a) Styles, Find _=Medcwiz, Load Demo and Play so it can regenerate (and then stop) b) Freeze all tracks. c) Unfreeze Piano d) Try and load in C_NUWALZ e) get error message: "Warning: the Realdrum folder specified does not exist. Style might not work. RealDrum Name is D:\bb_2011\Drums\NashClassicWaltzSw^\NashClassicWaltzSw" (the name is cut off). f) It then overwrites all of the frozen tracks with whatever it wants.
EDIT: Same error and results occur when trying to combine the piano from C_NUWALZ with all other instruments from _=Medcwiz in a "Hybrid" style.

Having a lot of probs too with build 313. Messing around with a new song last night trying out realtracks etc and the right click erase function in the main band in a box window wasn't erasing the realtracks, in fact I think I had 2 realtracks playing on the one part.
I can't get this realtrack to play atall. Will generate ok but nothing on playback
Banjo, Bluegrass Doc Ev 100(Rhythm - Simple)
All the rest I have tried play ok.
anyone else having same prob with above realtrack?

Hi,
Thanks for trying that. Just returned to factory settings but still it won't play. I have compacted the realtrack files by using the +/- so maybe that has something to do with it,
I have the realtrack install files so will install that realtrack again and see how it goes, luckily I don't use banjo too much in songs.

Banjo, Bluegrass Doc Ev 100(Rhythm - Simple) artist Scott Vestal.
Does anyone have an idea what realtrack this is, are there are quite a few different banjo realtrack installs?
All the ohter realtracks by this artist play ok im my system. I have 2 installs of biab on the pg hard drive update 312 and on my main computer update 313 but on both, that realtrack won't play.

I'd contact support, maybe that one went missing and you can install just that.

6. Style is C_DESERT.STY (Desert - Top40 Ctry 16th Ballad) 85bpm key of C. Have a fairly simple progression: C / / / || Bb / ^F / || C / / / ||... Every 85bpm guitar I have tried (acoustic strum, pick, 12 string, electric) -- all of them do a weird "strum" thing on the push. The original midi acoustic guitar part seems to handle it OK.
I'll just play it myself -- but it does seem sort of weird.

I noticed the same thing when I was looking at the guitars last night. I ended up removing the push from the song.

Hi Joe,
The below thread also refers to the banjo you've listed.
http://www.pgmusic.com/forums/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=304274&an=0&page=0#Post304274
I suggest that you email Support with your information as it sounds like something that they should know about.
Regards, Noel
Thanks a lot Noel, at least I know now its not my computer. I have sent an offline message to live chat as they are not on the air at the moment.
thanks

Pushes: Found this in the MAC thread. I rather have better pushes, but workarounds, well, sometimes work. Kevin Quote:
Yes, you can do this
1. First, generate the drums without the pushes 2. Then freeze the drum track 3. Then add the pushes and generate the tracks
(steps 1 and 3 are done in edit-song settings dialog, you can just disable/enable the pushes)

Kevin, although I've done this workaround many times in the past to do the drums without pushes, I found that version 2011 now makes it unnecessary. I also have my preferences set to increase the volume of pushes by zero, and that helped (Opt,. Preferences, Arrange). Perhaps the Latin styles I primarily use may react differently from others?
ps I fear having six questions in one lengthening thread may cause some of them to be lost. If you don't get the information you need, you might consider a separate thread for each.

The "volume increase set to 0" seems like a good trick to know. I did have to search awhile to find a country/pop drum set that didn't over-emphasize the push (but maybe the volume thing would have fixed that!). It is the RT guitars (and some pianos) that don't seem to handle the pushes very well.
This thread is just a placeholder for me. If I can conform any of the issues (or someone else does), then I will send a request to PG support (I already did that for #5). I just didn't want to start a bunch of threads, but you may be right!
