Hi,
I've been looking everywhere on the internet for a tutorial on how to use Garritan sound library with BIAB for Mac. Found some old forum threads at the NortherSound forum and the excellent Garritan tutorial on the PG Music homepage, but it's all about BIAB for Windows. Is it possible to use the ARIA player in the same way as in the Windows version? Thanks in advance for your help (BTW I'm no midi expert)

Hi Tom,
Band-in-a-Box for Mac doesn't support plugins, but you can drag and drop your MIDI tracks into GarageBand, and use the Garritan sounds there...

It's a pity that you can't use Garritan in the same way than in BIAB for Windows.

You could use the IAC bus in "Audio Midi Setup" and enable it in BIAB and Kontakt Player. I've used it with Bandstand, but now I prefer drag&drop to Garageband as it gives you much better control.

Until PG Music started doing RealTracks, I needed midi support in BinaB. Version 12 I would have to use this hack to get it to use Garageband sounds rather than the Quicktime Midi sounds. And I totally didn't even bother with using a VI like Garritan.
Now, with RealTracks, I can't remember why I'd want to use midi at all. I mean, geeze, the tracks sound amazing. Way better and 100 times faster than me loading up Kontkat, picking my patches, tweak here, tweak there, play.
It would take A LOT of tweaking to get a VI to sound as good as the RealTracks. I just wish there were more RealTracks........like a good Hawaiian Uke style ;-)
