Hello,

If is possible with BIAB or Realband to generate Real Drums tracks for each drumset instrument ?
One for snare drum, one for cc, one for kick,etc...
That will be great in order to mix the drum parts ?

Thanks for your answer.

Best regards.

Frédéric D.

real Drums are wave files mixed down to stereo. You can't unmix them, anymore than you can unmix a cake and get the eggs back out. One option is to use a drum samper like jamstix, it has a 4 or 8 output setting where the drums can be sent out on different ports, i have done this and had 8 tracks reciece them then adjust the tracks individually.

If you're not using Vista you could get the DR005. It's a freebie now. RHARV has it on the net somewhere. If you search these threads you'll find the link.

It's what I use if I can. Sometimes it works just fine and other times it don't. Right now, with the new 2009 version of Real Band and Band in a box it works. You can break your midi drums out then assign a synth per track. Since I only like to fool with the snares I remove them from the drum track and leave the rest as using the DR on each track does take up overhead.

Not totally true. they were multi tracked originally. PG Music could make NEW RD tracks of individual instruments if they wanted. I asked Peter to do this a long time ago.

You can also copy and paste the RD tracks to multiple tracks and use parametric EQ etc. to sort of isolate instruments.

If you just want to add some reverb to a snare or something similar, you could trigger a similar sounding midi or another sampled snare in time then mix just the reverb into your track. Similar thing for doubling bass drum kicks etc. Depends how much time you have / want to spend.

You are right Silvertones, in that there is a way to do almost anything, but i doubt it would turn out all that well, at least for all that you would have to try to do to make it happen. The thought of trying to unscramble a drum track with Para Eq make my eye twitch! LOL

Okay, but imagine the SIZE of that amount of data for all the RealDrum tracks.

And there is also the sync problem that may get in the way, depending.

For total controlability, you'd end up having to mix 5 or 6 drum tracks to get a kit sound. Now you could get all the files together to do this, but as Mac says. Think of the size of the product. 5-6 times the amount of data already provided. If you wanted just the snare separately, that would be a different configuration, then the high hat sound or level wouldn't suit someone else.

From my perspective, one hugh benefit of having the realdrums in their current format is that I don't have to mess with them too much (if at all). If you really want a high degree of controlability wouldn't it be easier go back to midi and a good sample player and samples and trigger them from the midi as Russ suggested. Then you have total control over the sounds (within your budget for sounds of course).

There are also details in the help file that will allow creation of your own real drum styles if you feel so inclined, then you could meet this half way perhaps.

Go over to the Reaper site cockos.com there is a video on using drum replacement software to do some of this that was very intereting to watch. Basically it takes a gate plug and adjust till you only hear one of the drum sounds like say the kick, then you clone that and add a drum sample plug with only one drum sound a kick and you let the gated track fire the sampler. You repeat this with each drum.

Just curiouser here - and I realize this is the RB forum BUT - will a BIB midi drum track work as a midi track for EZDrummer? anyone tried that? That way total isolation would be possible on separate tracks.
