Some of us prefer BiaB in live use as it can be used to generate slightly different accompaniments every time a song is loaded, provided that song is not Frozen. This is likely to be of more importance to the Improvising jazz-type performers.

Others like to use RealBand for the leel of control it offers over the performance. For example, our forum's "silvertones" - John does Country & Rock covers and uses Realband live.

Then there is the case where one may choose to work up a song initially in BiaB, taking advantage of its realtime accompaniment features and then at some point Export the project over to Realband where the ability to edit separate tracks, keep everything exactly as it sounded at a certain playback point, record as many more Audio or MIDI tracks as may be needed, invoke separate and different Software Synths in the same songfile and things like that can be done.

I recommend that you shake down each program at home and find out which direction seems best for your particular circumstances.
